ARCHIVE Team Challenge: UNO 2023
>
Team Casper Octopus

I like Harry Bosch but have only read a few. I always read in order and am only up to #6. I hadn't thought about the series in a long time so was pleased to see that you had read it. Looking forward to getting back to it.

Great. That means I can use the early ones as Reverses as we go through UNO.

That's right.

My biggest advice is to read whatever floats your boat! Don't forget to just have fun! This is supposed to be a fun challenge so remember that most of all!

For many years I took books in alphabetical order each time I went to the library. I read an incredible variety that way. Found some new favourite authors and genres I would never have picked up. I did that for about 30 years and only got midway through the H section because they kept putting new authors on the previous shelves or I'd come across a series I really liked and read them all. hahaha

Just checking in.
I live in Sydney Australia with my partner, daughter, 1 dog and 1 cat. I mostly read paranormal romance and paranormal cozies these days but I am a mood reader so will sometimes throw in a YA, or fantasy or historical fiction if i am in the mood for it.
Its been a couple of years since I last played Uno but I am sure i will get back in the swing of things relatively quickly. i am just in the process of planning out some of my books for this challenge and reading through the above posts. Sending through a request for the tracking spreadsheet now.
Can't wait to get started!

Hi Nikki. I'm in Canberra. Great to have you on our team.

In previous teams the captains have asked for one or other or both methods and I'll do whatever you want but where can we list the other options on the tracking sheet?
As an aside the extra column spreadsheet entry method was actually very good for the team to spot and note down a reverse when someone listed a book they'd read.

ŷ can be darn right annoying nowadays. Especially because of the recent update (I still don't know how I feel about it)

I’ve had the same thing happen to me, on this SS and in other Challenges.

I have My Brilliant Career to read when we kick off. It's an Australian classic written in 1901 by Miles Franklin at age 19. She was an author and feminist and has one of our top literary awards named after her.
Yesterday the 1979 movie was on TV starring the very young Judy Davis and Sam Neill and directed by Gillian Armstrong. I saw it many years ago probably not long after it came out.
After about 5 minutes in I decided not to watch it because I'm about to read the book for the first time, I will have those faces in my head when I read though.
My question for comment is: What would you have done? Book first or movie?

My favorite is when I know that a movie is going to come out about a book I want to read. This makes me want to read that book faster so then I can see the movie in theaters.

I think the original form is worth reading first, in nearly all cases. It's not always better (I can think of lots that aren't, in fact)... but I like to read the first first.

Instead what I do is, if I watch the later installments of a series first, I try reading the books immediately - to understand things better.
I did a Harry Potter Readathon in 2020 and finally finished watching the movies right after.
All hyped for reading - less than 24 hours to go! :)

Yes 90% sure that any book started during the challenge can be used in whatever month its finished in.

I'm the same i.e. book before movie unless i discover there is a book/series after i watch the movie/tv series. Notable exception - The Vampire Diaries ~ i was never really interested in reading the books lol

I added the tab to the spreadsheet where you can record all the cards that work for a book. I will put the colored cards in the top left so we know we've got everything covered! :)

For anything already listed on the February Tab because add to the all option spreadsheet so if we need to move things we can!

I'm reading for another challenge, so if I find something that works there, I should slot it in, even if I had claimed the (still empty) spot, right?
Is it better for me to finish a hand or read all my color books first? Or does it matter?

Flower of Iowa seemed right up my alley. I’m from Iowa like one MC, and I’ve loved the WWI poets since high school. But though there was lots to like, the clunky writing and head hopping was too annoying.
And the less I can say about End of the Line, the better. So out of touch.

Its actually a spin off of the original Vampire Knitting club series which is set in Oxford. An American girl travels to oxford to take over her grandmother's knitting shop, on the death of her grandmother and finds out that not only is she a witch and host to a knitting club for vampires of which her grandmother is actually one.
I enjoyed the original series so was happy to find the spin off

Demon's Bride by Leigh Miller
Date: Feb-5-2023
Haven't filled out SS because I forgot to request access LOL

I'm currently reading - The Maid by Nita Prose and hoping to take long to finish this - i.e. by valentine's as I am doing a course that takes up all my time (the course finishes on 11th)
Post that I'll have more time & energy to read better and will finish all the books that I have planned for this month.
Happy reading everyone!

I've seen Connelly speak a few times. He said he regrets making Harry age in real time and starting him out at age 40 meaning he had to decide what to do with him when he was too old to be any sort of detective, but he had no idea he'd be so popular.
