by Paul McAuley
2017
I like Paul McAuley’s work, and haven’t read enough of it. He is prolific and versatile, and scientifically literate. I liked his short story “Elves of Antarctica which was set in a future warming Antarctica, similar to the setting of Austral (I believe.)

meant to very dark and bleak, harsh look at colonised life on Mars, on one of my reading tick lists this year and I'd be nice to read.

It seems so, I haven't checked, so I change to another novel by him, now definitely with print and ebook: Salvation, the first in (now finished) trilogy. I've read and liked it, will re-read if the group chooses it

I second Salvation

I second it. While formally it is a sequel to Central Station, as I understand they are standalones in the same world. I've read the 1st, it was interesting even if I like his deconstruction of myths like By Force Alone more
