April 2023 Monthly Challenge - IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BOOKS
Begins: 01Apr23 / Ends: 30Apr23

In creating this month's challenge, I took inspiration from the variety of book-related holidays in April.

* Independent Book Store Week - Read a book by an author whose first and list initials are in INDEPENDENT. (Middle initials, if used, can be ignored.)

* World Book Day - Read a book with at least one book shown on its cover. Post the cover image.

* National Poetry Month. - Read a book tagged POETRY. If the tag is not on the main page, it must be tagged as such by at least 5 people; please include url of tags pages showing 5 or more people tagging it Poetry.

* National Library Month. - Read a book with flowers (more than one) on the COVER. (Be sure to post the cover image.) BONUS if the flowers are roses.

* A Very Hungry Caterpillar Day. - Read a children’s picture book. (Minimum page count WAIVED for this challenge task you’re welcome.)

============================================

RULES OF THE CHALLENGE

All books used must be a minimum of 100 pages long - Page length determined by HARDCOVER 1st edition. If there is no Hardcover, then the most popular paperback governs page #.

You may read in any format - text, audio or e-book.

You MUST finish the book before you can claim credit for completing a task.

A book may be used for only one task, even if it would satisfy the challenge for multiple tasks.

EXAMPLE of a successful post:
Book with a BLUE cover: Young Nick's Head by Karen Hesse - - 31Jan23

If you'd like to be recognized as finishing, the challenge, please post a new comment alerting me to your finish. I do not get notifications when you edit your original post.

Have Fun!

I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of Little House on the Prairie if it had been written by John Steinbeck. I liked that it was written from the POV of the young daughter and I think the free form verse really added to the impact of the book.

Hmmmm ... I just noticed that I had an obvious copy/paste error in setting up this challenge. What flowers on the cover have to do with National Library WEEK (shouldn't be month, either) I don't know. But that's okay. Take flowers to your librarian!

Teri-K | 12 comments Book Concierge wrote: "Oh, I'm so glad you read the Spanish Dr Seuss, Teri-K! Congrats on your finish."

Thanks! I'm slowly teaching myself to read Spanish, and sometimes shorter books help keep me motivated. The language in that book was pretty sophisticated, though. Not on the level of the original, I don't think, because the author wanted to keep the rhyme scheme going.

Teri-K | 12 comments BC, I don't know if you're referring to me or Terris. Looks like I cut the covers off in my original post, but I can't fix that as my laptop died and I'm on my phone for now.

message 25: by Terris (new)

Terris | 728 comments No -- I think it was me AND I fixed it! Sorry about that. It was a fun challenge.

Hope you had a nice graduation weekend, BC :)
