MAZZA1's Task - WORDLED

WORDLE is a very popular online game where you guess a 5 letter word in 6 moves. When I Visit my eldest son the whole family is competing for who can solve it first. This new craze is the basis for this task

Read 2 books with a combined page length of 600 or more pages
In ALL options the 5 letter words should stand alone

For the purpose of this task Y is considered a Consonant

Book 1
Choose a 5 letter word with at least one vowel.
Read a book with this word in the title.

Required: State the word

Book 2: Using the word you used for book 1, select an option

a) Assumption: the VOWELS are correct but NOT in the right place and that all the other letters are incorrect.

Read a book with a 5 letter word in the title that can be made by moving the vowels and adding new letters (vowels or consonants) to create a new 5 letter word. Letters may be repeated.

Example word is Anger

Book 1 Anger Age of Anger: A History of the Present
Book 2 word is Blame Where the Blame Lies
or
word is Death The Death Cure

Hint:
Enter the vowels and exclude the consonants. Remember you must move the vowels.

b) Assumption: the CONSONANTS are correct but NOT in the right place and the other letters are incorrect.

Read a book with a 5 letter word in the title that can be made by moving the Consonants and adding new letters (vowels or consonants) to create a new 5 letter word. Letters may be repeated.

Book 1: ANGER Age of Anger: A History of the Present
Book 2 word is BRING Bring Up the Bodies
or the word is WRONG The Wrong Family

Enter the consonants and exclude the vowels. Remember you must move the consonants.

Required: State the letters used

AFTER - After All These Years
WHALE - People of the Whale

or

EARLY - Early Riser
DEATH - A Death of No Importance

Vowels seem to be easier to work with than consonants

that works and congrats on keeping the consonants &replacing the vowels I have been finding doing it that way more difficult

message 17: by Wayne (new)

Wayne | 356 comments I think this is right, but I'm not sure. Please let me know.

Book 1: A Light Comedy by Eduardo Mendoza, light is the word
I then removed the consonants, moved the vowel i to the 4th position, and added an a.
Book 2: The Paris Orphan by Natasha Lester, Paris is the word

message 18: by Wayne (new)

so this does not work as you say the E is in the same place

with twice you could go RIDER . WINES. INNER as examples of moving vowels
i don't see any options for moving consonants

message 26: by Aimee (new)

Aimee (pebbles320) I really wanted to find a consonant change option just because, but I'm just losing the plot with it so I'm going to go for the straightforward route.

Can I please double check that DEMON (Demon Copperhead) works with HOUSE (House of Hollow)? In the book, Demon is a proper noun but since it is a common noun in regular usage that should be okay for Wordle, right?

ANGER and RINGS was all i could think of.

Trish (trishhartuk) | 3557 comments I'll get there with this in the end.

Is there any reason a name can't be used if it's five letters? For example GIFTS > then keep the I, lose GFTS, and add DAVD to get DAVID.

Thanks.

As long as it is a 5 letter word there are no stipulations as to whether it is a name / proper noun so David is fine

Deedee | 2324 comments If the word is ROBOT, does the second word have to have 2 O's? or would 1 O satisfy? Thanks

I am sorry it has taken me so long to answer this , I completely missed the post.
You would have to keep both O's as for the purposes of this task they are both vowels
I think this would be quite difficult to do as they would both have to be in different spots.

There's a small number of words that might work: adobo, ozone, photo, promo. Definitely a tough one though!

photo wont work as you also have T in first word
ETA in fact, when I look properly only OZONE doesn't re use any of the consonants from the first word

House and Guest does not work as although you have moved the vowels there is an S in both words and all the consonants should be different

Pines and White does work you have kept and moved the vowels and added new consonants
