October is almost here and we have a top winner for our group read, it's the infamous How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix. Really looking forward to this spooky read!

I just read this one earlier this month and LOVED it - easily one of my favorite books of the year so far! Can't wait to discuss it with everyone!

I’m so happy this one won! I mistakenly bought this one several months ago for a different book clubs challenge and it turned out Grady Hendrix wasn’t one of the participating authors. 😖 😂 But it seems to me October is a great month for haunted houses!!

Just read this not too long ago. I will never get the airplane scene out of my head!

My copy just arrived, trying to finish something I've been working through before I start but it's starting at me from my kitchen table and it's hard to resist!

I have requested the novel on 2 state library lists, chances are better on one than the other so I am crossing my fingers.

I’m in chapter 5, with the elderly “aunts�� and I’m just eating up every word of it. How did Hendrix write my family so well?!

I just finished it yesterday as I started it way over a week ago. I loved it! Very spooky stuff. I am throwing some stuff into a spoiler though.

(view spoiler)[ The haunted dolls and puppets were the freakiest I have ever read - I have read some horror fiction books about dolls before but the ones in this book just freaked me out. I had some wicked dreams while reading this book! lol This was almost like "Chucky" on steroids! Some real crazy stuff. (hide spoiler)]

Personally I think this is the best book I have read by Hendrix. I have only read three of his books but I really loved this one. :)

That sounds so promising! I'm starting shortly, just finishing up my last book, 10 pages to go haha.

Whoa 5 stars from Marie, happy you liked this one, this will be my 2nd Hendrix read but I really enjoyed his first even though it has mixed opinions ( The Final Girl Support Group).

He also has a short story out, free on KU. It's super short, probably a five minute read.

Ankle Snatcher (Creature Feature collection)

Chapter 1 - good stuff, enjoyed the set up.

Finished this about a month ago. I ended up just devouring this one.

I really enjoy Hendrix's writing style, and if you've read other books of his, you'll find little easter eggs in this which call back to references in his other works.

There's great humor here and its super creepy as well. I'll probably end up re-reading this once I've read some of Hendrix's other stuff.

managed to snag the audiobook from the library so i just started this today! it came in way earlier than expected, which is always a good thing. 🖤

Bits of humor in scary stories is so unexpected but it's always so memorable for me, looking forward to that!

I was super happy with this book! This was my third book by him - I read Paperbacks from Hell and We Sold Our Souls. I really loved this book more than anything as I love haunted house books so this was right up my alley. :)

I'm glad I enjoyed this book, there were some points I felt were unnecessary but I still quite enjoyed it. I loved the themes it tackled as well. The family problems seen in this book was one I related a bit too much. It was a 4/5 star for me :))

You know that saying that writers are monsters, they eat everything they see haha.

Chapter 22 - where Mark reveals what really happened over that semester at Boston University - might be one of my favorite chapters ever written by Hendrix. I was alternating between horror and hilarity the whole time.
