Although I liked the story and the characters, there were a few flaws that affected my rating. Other than being set in 1880s Colorado, there weren't a lot of "historical" references. My biggest complaint, however, was with the vocabulary. I don't think the term "vetting" was used back then, nor the title "Ms." And certainly not the phrase "Not on my watch".
Anyway, I'll probably read the next installment in the series. I'd like to see where the story goes.

First of the Hattie Davish mysteries. I really liked the characters, especially the two sisters: Miss Lucy, and Miss Lizzie. Would like to read more in the series.

First in series. A bit slow at times, and I often found the characters annoying.

I've been wanting to read this since I saw the movie. A twist on the Jack the Ripper legend, featuring H.G. Wells and his time machine. Moves from 1893 to 1979. Excellent!

Although this is my least favorite prompt, I must admit this book was very good. It is the first in a series, and I hope there will be more. It is set in 68BC Rome, and has a strong female character.

I was going to read another LPW book, but then I found this one on my TBR. Am so glad I did! It was excellent. It's the first book in a series, and was actually first published on my birthday. Great characters and plot twists. Loved the dialogue.

Would have rated higher if it weren't for all the typos and formatting errors. Good story though.
