I actually made some progress in this regard in 2023 by putting together the challenge, so here goes another list:

I have quite a few of the first in series, on my TBR. Good to see that you are into the series and like them.

Dead authors..... good point!

Ah, LR Wright. I was so shocked when I heard she had died. I so enjoyed the Karl Alberg series and the start of her next one. I still have to start the Darko Dawson series. THIS YEAR! Great challenge idea.

Several of these I haven't heard of, so I'll have to check them out. I've read both the Horowitz & Ann Cleeves. Two favorite authors. And, at least with the Shetland series, she did end it at a doable 10 books.

I agree with the merit of sticking with dead authors if you want to try and complete series. :-) :-) :-)

However, there are always other authors that continue sometimes, like The Wheel of Time series that I'm going to try and start to tackle next year. Sometimes the heirs bring in another author to finish it out, or authors wait until the works are in public domain in order to add more. Nothing is for sure, but yes, in general, I agree with sticking with dead authors to make any sort of progress. :-)

I finished Parable of the Talents yesterday. If you enjoyed the first one (Parable of the Sower), the second one will not disappoint.

One down. Nowhere To Run is the third in the Constance Fairchild series by James Oswald. I loved the Welsh setting and mythology. I am compulsively reading my way through his other series set in Edinburgh.

The McLean series in Edinburgh is right up your street, borderline horror.

Second one done, Before She Falls by Dylan Young who is the same author as Rhys Dylan in the list. Definitely a series worth reading in order, solid police procedurals with a main character who I understand all too well.
