Veronique | 1154 comments A whole new year full of possibilities :O)

Been looking at my shelves and there are a handful of titles I really want to get to for this challenge. For instance, I’d like to finally read at least one of the three big Shakespeare plays. The rest is very much at the whims of mood and vagaries of life.

Must Reads
A Wizard of Earthsea (Earthsea Cycle, #1) by Ursula K. Le Guin Solaris by Stanisław Lem Master and Commander (Aubrey/Maturin, #1) by Patrick O'Brian 11/22/63 by Stephen King Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke Rare Antique The Miracle Of The Bells Hardcover JANNEY, Russell by Russell Janney Meditations by Marcus Aurelius

Possibilities
China Court by Rumer Godden The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens The Law and the Lady by Wilkie Collins Appointment with Venus by Jerrard Tickell The Bridge On the River Kwai by Pierre Boulle Peking Picnic by Ann Bridge East of Eden by John Steinbeck Hamlet by William Shakespeare Macbeth by William Shakespeare King Lear by William Shakespeare Gilead (Gilead, #1) by Marilynne Robinson The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje Requiem for a Wren by Nevil Shute Fictions by Jorge Luis Borges Malgudi Days by R.K. Narayan The Marquise of O— and Other Stories by Heinrich von Kleist Babette’s Feast by Isak Dinesen The Dispossessed An Ambiguous Utopia by Ursula K. Le Guin Introduction to Sally by Elizabeth von Arnim Coming Home by Rosamunde Pilcher Good Omens by Terry Pratchett Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell Shōgun (Asian Saga, #1) by James Clavell The Far Cry by Emma Smith

Leni Iversen (leniverse) | 1284 comments Ooh, nice options! You have some of my favourites up there (but also a couple I didn't like much). And several I haven't heard of! Maybe I'll get the "new to me" author from your list. I'll wait and see what you think of the books. lol

My grandmother gave me a beautiful edition of The Secret Garden with watercolor illustrations when I was a child. It was a lovely book. I am glad you liked it so much!
