Rachel Steadfast Heart (Brides of Seattle, #1) by Tracie Peterson -Tracie Peterson 4-3-15
This was a fairly good Christian romance novel with some intrigue thrown in. However, I think that Tracie Peterson did a poorer job on this novel than on any of her other novels that I've read. Even though it was proclaimed in the description that Lenore was the main female character, I felt that Abrianna appeared much more often and that her character was much more developed than Lenore's. Even though I might read more of the series to figure out if Abrianna and Wade ever get their heads on straight, I was just a little disappointed in this novel.

Deep Green Color Me Jealous (TrueColors, #2) by Melody Carlson -Melody Carlson 4-4-15
This was a fairly good Christian YA novel. It shows how a teenage girl goes through a period of intense jealousy and spends a good deal of her time trying to get this guy back with her and to disrupt the other girl's life in other ways. Eventually, she realizes how horribly manipulative and unhappy she's become because of her jealousy and comes to Christ. It was a simply written novel, but it was well done, and the characters were drawn well also.

Torch Red Color Me Torn (TrueColors, #3) by Melody Carlson -Melody Carlson 4-4-15
This was a fairly good Christian YA novel. It shows how a teenage girl is seriously tempted to have sex because it seems as though she's one of the only girls in high school who hasn't. Eventually, she decides it's not worth it when she learns that a friend of hers has an STD, and she decides to truly turn her life over to Christ. It was a simply written novel, but it was well done, and the characters were drawn well also.

Pitch Black Color Me Lost (True Colors, #4) by Melody Carlson -Melody Carlson 4-5-15
This was a fairly good Christian YA novel. It shows how a teenage girl loses a friend due to suicide and seriously considers committing suicide herself and even enters a suicide pact with a few friends. However, she learns that her friend hadn't meant to commit suicide but had merely trying to get his parent's attention but it was too late by the time he asked for help and decides not only to not go through with it and recommits her life to Christ but actively encourages her friends and other teens at school who had also been considering suicide to join her in a pact to live. It was a simply written novel, but it was well done, and the characters were drawn well also.

These Melody Carlson novels deal with some heavy subjects. They are topics that have a lot of relevance in today's world.

Rachel Burnt Orange Color Me Wasted (TrueColors, #5) by Melody Carlson -Melody Carlson 4-7-15
This was a fairly good Christian YA novel. It shows how a teenage girl temporarily turns away from God due to the temptations of alcohol because of the peer pressure of a "friend." She gets a total wake-up call when her "friend" gets in an accident while drunk, and the consequences are devastating. She recommits her life to Christ and joins AA, bringing her "friend" who is facing possible jail time with her. It was a simply written novel, but it was well done, and the characters were drawn well also.

Fool's Gold Color Me Consumed (TrueColors, #6) by Melody Carlson -Melody Carlson 4-9-15
This was a fairly good Christian YA novel. It shows how a teenage girl allows herself to be drawn away from God and to get caught up in fashion and materialism because of wanting to fit in with her rich cousin and her friends. After getting herself into quite a bit of debt, the nightmares she has about debtor's prisons leads to become close to God again and to avoid shopping and to work hard at eradicating her debt before the end of the summer. The book did a good job of showing how quickly debt can pile up if you're not careful. It was a simply written novel, but it was well done, and the characters were drawn well also.

A New Day Rising (Red River of the North, #2) by Lauraine Snelling -Lauraine Snelling 4-11-15
This was a well-written Christian historical novel. The characters were well drawn and engaging, and the plot was interesting. I really enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more of the series.

A Land to Call Home (Red River of the North, #3) by Lauraine Snelling -Lauraine Snelling 4-14-15
This was a well-written Christian historical novel. The characters were well drawn and engaging, and the plot was interesting. I really enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more of the series.

Chuck | 86 comments Currently ready "Champion" by Marie Lu.

"June and Day have sacrificed so much for the people of the Republic—and each other—and now their country is on the brink of a new existence. June is back in the good graces of the Republic, working within the government’s elite circles as Princeps-Elect, while Day has been assigned a high-level military position.

But neither could have predicted the circumstances that will reunite them: just when a peace treaty is imminent, a plague outbreak causes panic in the Colonies, and war threatens the Republic’s border cities. This new strain of plague is deadlier than ever, and June is the only one who knows the key to her country’s defense. But saving the lives of thousands will mean asking the one she loves to give up everything."

Rachel Dawn's Prelude (Song of Alaska, #1) by Tracie Peterson -Tracie Peterson 4-17-15
This was a really good historical suspenseful romance. I really loved the character building and the plot. On the second time reading this, I liked it even better. It deals with several hard issues very well.

Morning's Refrain (Song of Alaska, #2) by Tracie Peterson -Tracie Peterson 4-18-15

Blade Silver Color Me Scarred (TrueColors, #7) by Melody Carlson -Melody Carlson 4-21-15
This was a fairly good Christian YA novel. It shows how a teenage girl becomes a cutter due to her dad's verbal abuse and some other family problems. She finds healing and comes to Christ while staying in a 12-step recovery home for 30 days. It was a simply written novel, but it was well done, and the characters were drawn well also.

I just finished reading Five Days at Memorial by Sheri Fink. It's about Hurricane Katrina and the first five days of it for those who were at Memorial Hospital. One doctor and two nurses were accused of performing euthanasia on patients. Very well written and documented. It reads like a novel. I am glad I have never been in their situation. I hope never to be in that situation. Wow! Fantastic read.

Rachel Bitter Rose Color Me Crushed (TrueColors, #8) by Melody Carlson -Melody Carlson 4-21-15
This was a fairly good Christian YA novel. It shows how a teenage girl learns to deal with her parents' divorce including the fact that her dad was more at fault than she had thought and he had claimed and comes to Christ because of her difficulties dealing with everything. It was a simply written novel, but it was well done, and the characters were drawn well also.

Faded Denim Color Me Trapped (TrueColors, #9) by Melody Carlson -Melody Carlson 4-22-15
This was a fairly good Christian YA novel. It shows how a Christian teenage girl gets caught up with body image problems and develops an eating disorder. Eventually, she realizes how she is seriously damaging her body and recommits her life to Christ and reaches out for accountability in eating properly again. It was a simply written novel, but it was well done, and the characters were drawn well also.

Bright Purple Color Me Confused (TrueColors, #10) by Melody Carlson -Melody Carlson 4-23-15
This was a fairly good Christian YA novel. It shows how a Christian teenage girl learns that her best friend of many years is a lesbian and how she has to learn to love her friend while hating the sin. It was a simply written novel, but it was well done, and the characters were drawn well also.

Moon White Color Me Enchanted (TrueColors, #11) by Melody Carlson -Melody Carlson 4-25-15
This was a fairly good Christian YA novel. It shows how a teenage girl gets caught up in witchcraft and almost feels compelled to commit suicide by a spiritual presence when she finds her mother's journal and goes to meet the friend under whose tutelage her mother had found Christ. She also comes to Christ under the tutelage of her mother's friend and completely turns her back on Wicca and tells her friends how wrong it is. It was a simply written novel, but it was well done, and the characters were drawn well also.

Harsh Pink Color Me Burned (TrueColors, #12) by Melody Carlson -Melody Carlson 4-26-15
This was a fairly good Christian YA novel. It shows how a teenage girl gets tired of the peer pressures involved with staying popular and finds Christ and becomes a recovered "mean girl." It was a simply written novel, but it was well done, and the characters were drawn well also.

Rachel The Pelican Bride (Gulf Coast Chronicles, #1) by Beth White -Beth White 4-29-15
This was an entertaining and well-written historical Christian romance with some suspense as well. The characters were well portrayed, and I liked the plot; however, there were several plot elements that were never fully resolved. While I know that novels that are at the beginning of a series as this one was occasionally leave something hanging that will be concluded in the next book, I felt that this novel left a few too many things dangling and was also a little slow-paced in resolving the few dilemmas it did, which is why I give it 3 stars instead of 4. Other than those issues, I really did enjoy the novel a great deal.
