Thoughts about Teresa

I have a hard time with Teresa, I have VERY mixed feelings. I wanted to know what everyone else thinks of her. Or another question would be, did you have a different opinion of her during one of the books rather than the other?

I kinda liked her when she was first introduced to the book, but as time went on, I started to dislike her.

I HATE TERESA WITH A BURNING PASSION

I never really liked Teresa like she fine in the beginning but then she just got worse.

Teresa was emotionally manipulated by WICKED since she was like 5. Of course she’s going to have the same viewpoints as the only people who she’s ever known to trust. The Maze Runner isn’t a black and white, good guys vs. bad guys story. Its complex, and has fleshed out characters with their own emotions and thoughts meaning that there are points throughout the story where you really question that WICKED actually might be good. And ultimately, i think Teresa is hated on mainly because she’s headstrong and has her own visions and ideas, and instead of throwing that all away for some guy, like too many other female characters, she stands strong and is determined to help as many people as she can. It’s unfair to label her as a traitor when she was the only main character who actually had intentions to help others (maybe besides Ava Paige).

+ considering the fact that people will bash this 17 year old girl to no end, but will completely defend and uplift Aris and Gally who also had “traitorous actions throughout the series, really tells me why she’s specifically picked out.

People want her to shut up and mindlessly follow a group of random guys just because they’re men. That isn’t how people, and especially women work, which is why I really enjoy the character of Teresa.

(if u dont want to read all that, it’s understandable but i have strong feelings about it)

honestly I just think that she had the right intentions but didn't do it in the right way. the way she was portrayed in the movies was a bit different in the books but I think they got the idea of it. she wasn't all evil, she was doing what she thought was right (unlike Jansen) and she did say multiple times that saving the whole world meant more to her than a couple of guys. I think she was looking at the bigger picture though I never understood why in the movie it never showed her trying to use her own blood since I'm pretty sure she's immune? because it's shown (in the movie at least) that you don't need that brain drip thing and kill them, at the make shift camp that lady just took Thomas's blood and bam there was a cure so idk

I only read the first book, but her character felt really, really flat to me. Aside from the fact that she spent a lot of it in a coma, she didn't seem to have much of her own personality. It sounds like that probably changes later in the series though?

Teresa was innocent . she was my favourite character. She always tried to defend her friends but it was in a way that they didn't understand until she died.

i hate teresa.

I'm just saying how do people hate Gale from Hunger Games, more than they hate Teresa? Gale didn't know his bomb was going to kill Prim, Teresa knew darn well that all the boys could die and she didn't care. So Teresa was a villain and I can't stand her.

I personally really liked Teresa because she was brave and always did what she thought was the right thing to do. She really cared about Thomas and "betrayed him only because she was afraid of WICKED. I don’t understand why Thomas was so mad at her because she just tried to save him and apologized a hundred times and felt really bad about it. But the worst thing is how Brenda just waltz in the book becoming the main heroine even though she lied too. Brenda was worst because she was part of WICKED all along. And it is so disrespectful how Thomas kisses Brenda just after Teresa SACRIFIED her LIFE for him. I really wished they end up together because they had a deep connection.

Teresa is a mid character over all not a hige fan but not the worst character not the best. Like I understand where the auther is coming from with having a strong female character but I don't think he did the best job.
