Sorry - we are running late again.

Nominations are now open until April 27th for the June 2024 Open Pick.

Nominating guidelines:
- Fiction (original & translation, if applicable) first published between January 1, 2000 and June 1, 2023. For translations the latter date must be an English edition.
- One nomination per person (please do not nominate or vote for a book unless you are certain you can read and discuss if it wins)
- A book this group has not yet read (see the group bookshelf or the Index of all Group Reads here)
- A book that is not better suited to the wild card (genre) category

If you are nominating, please begin your post by stating "I nominate [name with hyperlink to book]"

The discussion will start on June 1st

Sam | 418 comments Despite our last choice and upcoming read appearing on recent prize lists, it feels there are still a number of worthy choices worth reading. I will nominate Soldier Sailor by Claire Kilroy but would like a moderator's opinion on eligibility since the U.S. edition comes out June 4th.

Soldier Sailor has won by a landslide!

Sam, would you be willing to lead the discussion?

I can if I have to but I thought Hugh or one of our fellow British Isles members might want to lead this, since they got a headstart with an earlier publication. I am waiting on June 4th for the U.S. audio release before rereading and thus won't be up to date for a few days. But if no one else has an interest or time, I can lead.

Great Hugh! You'll do a better job than I and I am looking forward to the discussion.
