Ann Cleeves, Peter James, and Ian Rankin. You are doing a good job of following my footsteps.
Sometime in the late 1970's I started reading everything from Robert Ludlum. Loved them all, though I didn't care for the co-authored books.
Later I discovered the "Spenser" books from Robert B. Parker. I went through them quickly, start to finish.
Next I found Dick Francis, and made my way through them all, then did the same with Sue Grafton's "Kinsey Millhone" books, reading them A-Z.
I've also read the "Harry Hole" books from Jo Nesbø, and most recently the entire "Elvis Cole"1 series from Robert Crais.
So now I'm stuck. I'm looking for recommendations for where to turn for my next series.
I love a detective with a strong moral code, a good partner or friend, and a solid crime to solve. I don't like Patterson or Crichton, and Inspector Lynley was not my style. At. All.
Suggestions?
