And our 2023 Anniversary List prompt is...

45. A book whose author has published more than 7 books

The next (final!) round of voting will open on Sunday, September 15.

The mods have discussed our 2025 prompt, and we have decided to use the prompt that has the highest net votes after all rounds of voting are complete! Our voting numbers have been consistent enough that we feel this is a fair way to compare prompts across polls, and we are excited with the prompts currently in the lead... which you will find out with the final poll's results!

Also, for those interested, this poll was our closest anniversary poll yet. We had three that went back and forth through the entire voting process: book that involves murder, book related to a chess piece, and this one. This one pulled through in the end.

Michelle H | 72 comments Cool! I think I was neutral on this one but I’m happy with it. I like your idea for the top 2025 prompt 😊 I’m curious to see which prompts come out on top!

dalex (912dalex) | 2646 comments Hrm. Might have to think about some BIO options because this is extremely easy.

message 5: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2830 comments I was neutral on this one, the Chess one was in my top, but I’m just glad none of my downvotes won.

Written more than 23 since it's the 2023 challenge.

Wow, that's going in the extreme other direction. Ha.

I was thinking maybe an author who is prolific but not popular, like a book with less than X ratings. Like, not Stephen King or Kristin Hannah.

message 8: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan J | 4 comments Not one of my 8 upvotes, but should be fairly easy to fill! Once again, my romance novel addiction comes through. XD

message 9: by Pam (new)

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3766 comments Two BIO options - 1) the authors 8th or later book and/or 2) an author new to you. If the Asian translation prompt doesn’t make it, I might use one of those authors or combine the prompt with another suggestion that didn’t make the list.

message 10: by LeahS (new)

LeahS | 1260 comments Not one I wanted and it was one of the few I didn't like in 2023 but doable. I'll look for someone who has published seven or more individual books rather than a series.

Dixie (dixietenny) | 779 comments I was a chess piece fan, but this will be an excuse to pick up one of the T Kingfishers that I haven't read yet. Hoping she has something new and paladin-y in 2025!

Dubhease | 1007 comments I say it every time, but what a bland, vanilla prompt of all the great prompts we had last year.

I just read an Agatha Christie book for it last year. So I might do that again, or assign a series book to it.

Exactly. These types of prompts can be nice, in the big picture. It's good to have a few easy prompts that you can fill with your normal reading.

But when we step back and look at the whole list, it would be good to also have challenging prompts. The trick is finding the right balance.

I was curious so I went back through our messages and figured out who had pulled each of the winning anniversary prompts. Now, the way this worked was that each mod (Emily, Robin, and myself) picked 5 of that year's prompts and so whoever went last obviously had 10 less choices, so it's not an entirely 'fair' competition. But I wasn't expecting the breakdown to work out like this at all.

Of the 9 prompts, 5 were from Emily, 2 from Robin, and 1 from me.

Wow that's intriguing Jackie! I did usually pull first, so that may have something to do with it, though. But how fun!

message 16: by Karin (new)

Karin | 666 comments I don't remember what I voted for, but I'm fine with this one and am happy that none of the ones I downvoted made it through.

message 17: by Ciara (new)

Ciara (ciaraxyerra) | 304 comments I agree that this isn't a thrilling prompt, but I'm fine with it. I'll probably try to fulfill it with a new-to-me author. It's always fun to find a new author I like & get to dive into a chunky backlist.

message 18: by Angela (new)

Angela (skiesclear) | 61 comments I'm planning to chew through a particularly long series next year so this one will help with that. A bit of a wild-card slot.

message 19: by Pam (new)

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3766 comments Since it’s the anniversary list and I may not get to it, I’m happy with an easier prompt, one that I can pull from my shelves.

message 20: by Pamela (new)

Pamela | 1950 comments So the 2025 prompt is going to be there 2x?

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 10909 comments Mod
The 2025 prompt will be on the 2025 regular list, as well as on our anniversary list, yes.

I also agree. I have several series that I'm trying to ration since I know that they are completed. This may be due to the author's death, a new series has begun, or the eternal hope that GRR Martin will FINALLY finish The Winds of Winter.

message 23: by Conny (new)

Conny | 635 comments Same here, Jette, for pretty much the same reasons :D (I hope Patrick Rothfuss is reading this, too!)
