MountainKat | 30679 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though. I will use the team leader as a point of contact if needed.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 2, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

Vi | 2787 comments Hey everyone! Thanks, Breann for bringing us together. My laptop is out for fixing so my GR time is temporarily reduced and I couldn't follow the threads properly.

I'm Vi, I live in Netherlands. I have 2 kids (10 and 5) and just started working after 5 years. I read regularly and I'm trying out audiobooks now since I drive to work. I read mostly romance, most subgenres excluding RH, Mafia and Dark. Haven't been able to get to them.

We need 1. team names 2. captain. We should also discuss some things in advance like sub-genre etc so that we can start reading when we get specific categories.

message 6: by Breann (new)

Breann | 398 comments Hi team! I'm Breann. I live in Northern AZ. We recently moved here from Southern AZ, so we are experiencing fall(ish) weather for the first time! We have 3 kids, 2 dogs, a cat, a horse, and way too many chickens :)

I read most romance subgenres - especially mystery, contemporary, and historical.

Team name ideas:
Readers on the Run
Tales on Fire
Book Blitzers
Tale Turtles
Booked for Speed
The Fast and the Fictional

message 7: by Breann (new)

Breann | 398 comments Authors we have in common: Julie Garwood, JD Robb/Nora Roberts, Ilona Andrews, Lisa Kleypas

message 8: by R~wka (new)

R~wka (r-wka) | 894 comments Hi Team! I'm Raluca and I'm from Romania (Land of vampires 😂). As English is not my first language, I apologize in advance if I misspell words. I live with my cat and my boyfriend.

About reading, I like a book any book that have a plot to attract me... But not so much those centered on the erotic part and plot 0 .... In the working days I may delay finishing my book falling asleep without finishing my book 🙈

Danielle | 416 comments Hey Guys! I've been on teams with most of you before except Vi. So it's nice to meet you, Vi :)

I'm from Toronto so est timezone, but work a lot of nights and hockey (NHL) started so it's about to take up a lot of my reading time.

"The Fast and the Fictional" made me laugh. I like that one.

Does someone want to volunteer to be captain? Otherwise, I don't mind jumping in.

I'd agree these are the big names we all have in common. Or name any popular historical romance author and most of us have read them.

I looked to see if there were any contemporary authors and Elle Kennedy was the only one that stood out.

Let me get back on the questions later today once I have a laptop.

Oh also I think Raluca and I are about 6 hours ahead of you both or at least the EST zone

I'm good with the "In Death" series. I only read them for challenged anyway.

29. Read over 750 pages in books about the same profession, teams decide which profession.
Law enforcement? Assassin?
Vi: Throwing in sports players (hockey - which seems to be most popular)

UK?
I think UK gives us lots of options

Breanns list has every choice possible I think.

52. Read 6 books with the same color cover, teams decide color.
Most of my books seem to lean towards blue so that would be my preference.

72. Read 4 books published in the decade of a teammate's birth, team decides which teammate.
I'm 90s, but I have a ton of 80s bodice-rippers on deck so that's a good year for me!

58. Read 6 books published in the year one of the teammates joined RRRC, teams decide which teammate.
Looks like we're 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2020 - I have no real reason, but thinking 2020 might be a good year to pick.

R~wka (r-wka) | 894 comments First Task - All Teams!

Task 1 - 0. Read a book that is MPG Paranormal or a books that has both black and orange on the cover, teams decide.

October is wonderful in many ways - fall weather, football, pumpkin spice and especially Halloween! As a team decide whether you will read books that are MPG Paranormal or books with both black and orange on the cover, then each teammate reads a book that matches the team’s decision. To qualify as MPG (main page genre), on the main page of the book under the precis, there is a section that says "Genres". Anything listed under that section is counted as an MPG. You may use anything that shows when you click 'more', but not if you click 'show all'. For books to qualify under the cover color option, both black and orange need to be on the cover. The selected covers do not have to be primarily black and/or orange, but both colors must be present on the cover. You can use any edition’s cover to qualify your book. If in doubt, please ask.

Manners and Monsters (Manners and Monsters, #1) by Tilly Wallace
Manners and Monsters

Pages: 320
How it fits: MPG Paranormal
Date completed: Oct 14
Review:
3.5 stars

It's a cozy little murder mystery, but there is a lot of self-loathing in this and I really didn't like the way Hannah's mom seemed to brush her off when she expressed her loneliness. Still, the mystery is decent, the characters are very YA, and I didn't mind it at all.

My first book by this author and I'm not impressed. The FMC is basically a doormat, the MMC too dominating. I won't be continuing the series.
