Thanks Rosemarie.

Sorry Wanda, she's an American mystery author. Would you like to choose another one?

Let's have another nomination please 😊

Werner | 252 comments Next month, I plan to read Case for Mr. Fortune by H.C. Bailey Case for Mr Fortune by Golden Age English mystery writer H.C. Bailey. It's a collection of eight stories featuring his series sleuth, Reggie Fortune. Since we're relatively short of nominations, I'll nominate this one!

That's a great idea Werner, and short stories are fine for our poll 😊

I had a bit of a problem deciding if it's accessible though. As far as I could see, there are no current editions and it's not on kindle or audio, (although there are some secondhand Large Print copies). However looking into it, I think these stories might be the same as in Call Mr. Fortune, which is available in various formats, and contains the first six stories about Reggie Fortune.

So I've added this to our nominations list. Is this OK? Perhaps it will just mean that you have two "bonus" ones! 😆

Craftyhj | 51 comments I shall be reading Untimely Death by Cyril Hare. I think his writing is excellent and only wish he had written more.

Is this a good one to nominate please, Craftyhj? Do you think it might be a stand-alone? (I'll anticipate your answer and add it, as we enjoyed the first one!) Just let me know if not 😊

I'm about a quarter the way through that at the moment ... lagging behind in an group read from a couple of months ago 🙄 It's great as an audio book though !

Yes, Jean, that's certainly okay! I can't tell, from the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ description, whether the six stories in Call Mr. Fortune are included in Case for Mr. Fortune or not; but if it wins the poll, we'll find out. :-) My apologies for not thinking about audio books or Kindle accessibility; I knew that I'd easily gotten my copy of Case for Mr. Fortune by interlibrary loan, but I wasn't thinking about the visually impaired readers in the group. :-( Mea culpa!

I have found they stand alone so far. The Mallett ones are good too.

I need to find a new GAC author for next year as I am coming to the end of a number of series.

Thanks Werner! This looks like a good author - and "new" for the group to try.

And thanks - that's good Craftyhj - and perhaps with Mallett there's another upcoming nomination sometime?

I find it a great tragedy that Cyril Hare died young. He was a remarkable writer. I'm glad I enjoy rereading just wish there were additional titles to add to my pile.

I'm adding Miss Silver Deals With Death by Patricia Wentworth, which was the runner-up in our previous golden age English mystery poll.
