I finished The King is Dead, Long Live the King! Majesty, Mourning and Modernity in Edwardian Britain by Martin Williams -- Edward VII's death was unusual in that it occurred in 1910, and royalty from all over Europe, most of whom were related to him, came to the funeral. Four years later they were at each other's throats in the First World War, and after that Kaiser Wilhelm was disgraced, and the Romanov family were murdered.

Finished Black House. Good book but too much info/background drop of the main character IMO and not enough police procedural.

The Palace Papers Inside the House of Windsor - the Truth and the Turmoil by Tina Brown
Finished this book yesterday. It was interesting and I liked that it didn't just focus on one member of the Royal Family

I liked that book for the same reason, Vikki.

message 32: by Rhonda (new)

Rhonda | 167 comments Winter Storms (Winter, #3) by Elin Hilderbrand 3 stars. This probably would have been better had I read the previous 2 books. It was clearly a book tying up the storylines from before.

Three Hours by Rosamund Lupton 1 star. Started out good but became redundant with added in political propaganda.

〰️ٳ〰️ (x1f4a0bethx1f4a0) | 457 comments Finished Blood of Hercules (Villains of Lore, #1) by Jasmine Mas , 3.5 fast read, liked the main character but some of the secondary characters were one dimensional. Better than The Games Gods Play (The Crucible, #1) by Abigail Owen so that was a bonus. These reworked of Greek mythology books have been hit and mostly miss lately.

message 34: by 〰️ٳ〰️ (new)

〰️ٳ〰️ (x1f4a0bethx1f4a0) | 457 comments Added The One (The Selection, #3) by Kiera Cass . Had a group read doing a reread of the series. It’s been interesting going back. This is #3 so the world building and the character development is much improved. Sticking with my 3 star rating

Major changes at the end so that will allow for all kinds of stressful situation in book 4 . Will get to that next month.

Rhonda | 167 comments Ordeal by Hunger The Story of the Donner Party by George R. Stewart Very interesting. Good reminder of the fortitude, courage, strength & sacrifice it took for our country's settlers to endure great hardships. 5 stars
