I'm not typically one to read a lot of horror, but this one...wow! It's so eerie and having both the audio and ebook is exacerbating the eeriness for me. The narrator is really good and when she whispers things, it literally freaks me out. I couldn't/wouldn't read this at night alone in my house! But I am loving it so far anyway! lol

Judi Fox | 1 comments I just stumbled across this group, and it's the 1st one I've joined!

I have so many questions after reading this book, which I read to the end, with enjoyment, if not complete satisfaction.
1st, Mary. Please straighten me out if I missed something. How did Mina think Bert killed Mary? When Mina went with Alice to keep an eye on things, she did check on Mary, and Mary was alive - saying Billy, Billy! Then she went to the basement, found Bert's hidey hole full of torture devices, and ran upstairs when she heard Alice screaming for her, only to find Mary dead and the music playing. Did Bert sneak back from the grocery and kill Mary? I was sure it was Alice.

Next, the goo. What was all the disgusting black goo in the fireplace? It kept oozing out. The house was in dire condition, as we learned when Mina went out the window, but wouldn't it occur to anyone that Alice's problems might be environmental? Also, wasn't it odd, that Alice's room had a fireplace at all, when her brother's room is described as "a box"?

Next - In spite of their poverty, wouldn't the 1st thing you'd do be to get both girls out of that room? Put them on the sofa downstairs? Or trade rooms with them, to see what's going on?

I know I have a lot of questions...but, was Bert allowed to dress up all those girls he photographed and publicly exorcise them? Fern said it happened to her and she was pretty glad. He had paid off cops, by his own admission, so calling them would be useless. But it had happened to Alice's mother. She was going to allow it?

The dress - what happened to Mina when she put on the dress and 12. lbs of stone necklaces, carefully, smallest to largest? She acted drugged. What was up with that?

I have more, but I'll stop with this last one - Was Alice a witch? The seance was pretty convincing. There was nothing later to explain it. How was Bert behind it? Alice seemed to have wasps doing her bidding. How did she know Mina had killed her brother? And that he called her Meens? And the postcard she sent at the end - He 4gives U! - all point to maybe she had some sort of power.

I agree with you, Vicki, that Oscar was unnecessary, unless his purpose was to make her unsure of herself. Glad she kicked him to the curb. I wonder why Sam is hanging around to see her.

Oh yes, and Good Riddance Bert!

PS I don't see where to say I have lots of spoilers.
