I picked it up at my library two days ago and even though it’s a huge book, I’m already 30% into it. Fast-paced, and hard to put down. Very trashy, but the author’s writing style makes you want to keep reading in spite of it.

This is a bit like a raunchier version of The Godfather. Alot of bad things happen to the characters early in their childhoods, making them the way they are. (Trigger warning: There are some difficult to read parts featuring rape that are important to the story.) So far I am both shocked and compelled to read this book.

JACKIE IS THE BEST.

Yeah, the Carrie portions are really tough to read. Especially when she’s just a little kid. I agree it’s a fast read though!

So I’m on page 466 and I can’t figure out what the plot is. Is that normal with these books?

I think the plot is just the rise of an American crime family. Kind of like the Godfather was. This book is the first in the Lucky Santangelo series, so it’s mainly about her father and how he got to be so rich and powerful.

going to pass on this one, I think.
