Domen Jazbec (domen_jazbec) | 4 comments Just a quick warning for fellow authors, especially those new to publishing and promotion. If you're active in Facebook groups for writers or book marketing, be very careful there are many scammers using fake profiles to approach you directly.

As soon as you post anything about your book, they may message you pretending to be fellow authors or book marketers. They often use names and photos of real people (sometimes even other writers) and say things like:
“I know how hard it is to get started. I want to help you promote your book.

They can sound very supportive and convincing but it’s fake. I haven’t fallen for it myself, but I’ve seen how professional and personal they try to be.

Please double-check who you're talking to before you share any details about your book, your login credentials, or your plans. Stick to trusted platforms and always look for real engagement, not just fancy promises.

Stay sharp and safe,
Domen Jazbec

Gina LoBiondo (ginalob) | 85 comments There are also scammers/trolls here on ŷ. They comment vulger and threatening remarks to and about authors trying to scare them into not requesting reviews or advertising their books. If you're plagued by these lowlifes, don't respond but report them to ŷ. The trolls always have no profile pics and their accounts are always set to private -- that's a sure way of recognizing them.

And here's another tip -- if you get an email from Books to Life Marketing, put it in your spam folder. They've contacted me 3 times already with the BS that a guy named Logan Crawford wants to interview me about one of my books. Said interview would cost me $999!!!!! I've told them to take a hike!!!!!

Domen Jazbec (domen_jazbec) | 4 comments Thank you for that. I find this profile suspicious (/user/show/1...). She contacted me on Facebook and offered to get me reviews for a book in exchange for payment via Fiverr. Even though I didn't agree, she convinced me and is still sending me messages on Facebook. There were more of them there. But this profile is also on goodreads and she even wrote me a review to be more convincing. When I search online, I don't get any information from this person. I don't want to do anyone any injustice, but I think it's a fake profile

Gina LoBiondo (ginalob) | 85 comments I checked her profile but she seems real. If she's bothering you on Facebook, click on her profile and find the 3 dots on the right hand side. You'll be able to block her. She won't be able to see your profile anymore or send you messages. I don't know how Fiverr works. I think I checked it out once and never did anything else on it. 😜😱😵‍ Good luck!
