Step into 1920s London, where science meets scandal in A Botanist’s Guide to Parties and Poisons by Kate Khavari.

Ambitious and intelligent, Saffron Everleigh is one of the few women working in botany at University College London. But her academic aspirations are swiftly overshadowed when a professor’s wife collapses at a glamorous university party—poisoned. When Saffron’s trusted mentor is accused, she refuses to stand by.

Armed with sharp wit, botanical knowledge, and a healthy disregard for the expectations placed on women, Saffron dives headfirst into the mystery. Alongside the charming and enigmatic Alexander Ashton, she finds herself entangled in a web of academic rivalries, secret experiments, and dangerous discoveries.

Perfect for fans of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and The Lost Apothecary, this clever, atmospheric whodunnit is full of twists, botanical intrigue, and simmering romance.

If you're craving a fresh take on the historical mystery with a strong female lead, this is your next must-read.

I'm reading it and quite liking it, though... I don't see the point in a group read! I mean, a reallyb likable and "enjoylable" book, but...what to say about it? I'm curuious to see your comments!

Jenny-Lee (jlb1311) | 17 comments I was very much looking forward to this. Poison, botany, glamorous parties and a whodunnit are all top notch ingredients for a fun book. Sadly I'm finding it all quite dull. I'll finish it, but I could also happily DNF.
