Welcome to the Poolside Stories Reading Challenge! We would like to invite you all to join this wonderful and fun summer reading challenge. I would also like to put in writing that you are more than welcome to invite your friends to join as well!

WHAT ARE CHALLENGES?

This is a great way to get to know fellow readers of the group as well as readers who are going to be your teammates. You can also not only motivate others but yourself as well! The whole goal is to earn as many points as you can based off the books you are reading- points system is down below! Keep in mind you can make this as COMPETITVE as you want.

TEAMS

There are going to be 2 teams for this reading challenge. Team 1 will be Sun Kissed Squad and your team captain will be Yeehawwlovesbooks and Team 2 is the Pina Colada Squad, and your team captain will be Ana.

START/FINISH DATES:

The challenge will start May 9th, 2025 and will end on June 13th, 2025! We will also announce the winning team on June 14th, 2025.

HOW TO SIGN UP:

Please follow the directions on how to sign up so we can make this easier for everyone and less confusing.

Reading Speed: (from a 1 to 5 scale, 1 being slow and 5 being fast.) Please be honest here because we will look at this.
Activeness: (from a 1 to 5 scale, 1 being hardly active, and 5 being very active... how active do you plan on being? Again please be honest here because activeness is a HUGE part.
Preferred Team: (Keep in mind we will try our best to put you on the desired team you want, but we can't promise anything.)
Anything miscellaneous information: This is where you will put if you are in school, if you have any activities that are coming up, vacations, reading slumps, etc.

I will say this again, we will do our best to put you on the desired team you want, but if you don't get that team we are trying to make teams as fair as possible.

RULES OF THE CHALLENGE:

📌 ALL PROMPTS ARE UNLIMITED. Means book prompts, writing prompts, and activity prompts.
📌 Audio books are allowed for this challenge but graphic novels, comic books, etc are NOT ALLOWED.
📌 You have 10 hours from the time you finish a book to log it for points. (If the 10 hours has passed then you can't log it for points.)
📌 For any book you log for points, it has to be over 100+ pages to get points for. Anything under 100 pages is NOT ALLOWED TO COUNT.
📌 Have fun and be competitive but please respect team captains as well as your fellow teammates. No negativity will be allowed, also respect other people's reading taste.

WAYS YOU CAN EARN POINTS FOR YOUR TEAM:

📌 Everyone will be allowed to earn points for your team based on how long the book is. (Please follow the point system down below.)

100-200 pages- 1 point
201-300 pages- 2 points
301-400 pages- 3 points
401-500 pages- 4 pages
501-600 pages- 5 points
601+ pages- 6 points

You can also earn points depending on how long your personal review is as well as how long your answers are to the writing prompts. (Both of these are optional, but everyone needs to follow the point system down below.) Also please use this word counter website because it will tell you how many words you have.



Less than 50 words-2 points
50-100 words- 3 points
101-150 words-4 points
151-200 words-5 points
201-250 words-6 points
251-300 words-7 points
300+ words or more is 9 points

👙RAB that is in a series. (could be something you started but didn't finish or its a series your re reading.)

Activity Prompts are 4 points each.

☀️Read a book while tanning by the pool.
☀️Read a book while your sitting on a boat in the water.
☀️Read a book at a coffee shop while eating some breakfast.
☀️Go to the library and check out at least 3 books. (Tell us what your choose.)
☀️Have/host a pool party with your friends, significant other, or family.
☀️Go to a pool party with your friends or family.
☀️Go on a picnic and enjoy nature for at least 20+ minutes.
☀️Watch a movie that recently just came out. (Tell us what you watched and thought.
☀️Have a sleepover or get together with friends and have a snack party.
☀️Go on a nature walk.
☀️Read while there is a storm outside.
☀️Work in the garden and listen to a podcast or audio book.
☀️Bake a summer treat to share with a family member or friend.
☀️Drink your favorite summer beverage while your at the pool.
☀️Bake your favorite summer dinner dish and tell us what you made.
☀️Go have breakfast, lunch, or dinner with friends, family, or significant other.

Writing Prompts are 8 points each. (MUST FOLLOW POINT SYSTEM ABOVE TO GET FULL POINTS. Again writing prompts are optional but will allow you to get more points for your team. Use the Word Counter as well.

REMINDER TO EVERYONE: We have a total of 8 more days left of the challenge! We are on the homestretch but with that being said EVERYONE NEEDS TO HAVE ALL BOOKS LOGGED by Friday June 13th, 2025 by midnight (according to your time zone.)

ANY BOOKS LOGGED AFTER MIDNIGHT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COUNT FOR POINTS. We will be announcing the winner the morning of June 14th, 2025.

The winner for the challenge is...... Team Sun Kissed Squad! Thank you to everyone who joined the challenge, it was really fun to see the competition and the winning team will get to choose 1 book that we all agree on to add to July's BOTM- it will automatically be on the seconded list.

Now Pina Cola you guys will also get to choose a book that you all agree on and will get to choose your team name once we come up with a new theme.
