First off if I am writing this in the wrong spot then feel free to tell me or something!

Because I work in a library I get questions a lot from people looking for other authors that are kind of similar to their favourite authors. We've just recently put together a booklet but I thought that it might be nice to have somewhere where you can go that was similar.

Jeffery Archer
Michael Dobbs
Colin Harrison
Arthur Hailey
Lawrence Sanders
Sidney Sheldon

Maeve Binchy
Sarah Challis
Rosmunde Pilcher
Alexandra Raife
Mary Ryan

Lee Child
John Gilstrap
Graham Hurley
Donald James
Michael Marshall

Mary Higgins Clark
Michael Connelly
Robert Crais
Loren D. Estleman
John Katzenbach
Robert B Parker

Michael Connelly
James Lee Burke
Harlen Coben
William Heffernan
J A Jance
John Katzenbach

NOTE:- I will add more as time passes!

Luann (azbookgal) | 1017 comments Very cool, Sophie! Lists like this can be a great reference tool. Keep them coming!

BTW, I did move it to the "Just Random" folder since it seemed to fit in better with other posts there.

Lynne (lmsindel) Great idea. Don't forget to keep adding to the list. Who else is like David Baldacci or Harlan Cobin?

Have you all seen this website. Supposedly when you put in an author's name it tells you other authors that are similar. The closer to the middle an author's name is, the more similar.

It is pretty good, although I have found some of the connections a little iffy.

Amazing! I love it! I just tried it with one of my favorite authors, Nancy Kress -- and the closest to her is Octavia Butler. I'm reading (and loving) her Wild Seed right now, but hadn't heard of her until people here reviewed her Kindred. Now I'm anxious to look up other nearby people I've never heard of. Thanks, Lyn!

Erin E (elizamc) I like this idea. It opens up readingn options for people who might be a little nervous about trying new authors. Or just plain helpful for people who have tried new authors who endded up being complete flops for them.

It really is! If you haven't finished with your African-American authors in the challenge, you should read it this month because it will give you science shelf-of-the-month points too, even though it's not really science at all.

Erin E (elizamc) I will have to keep that in mind! I've a lot of books on my TBR from the Science shelf, but nothing that is piquing my interest right now...

Lynne (lmsindel) That literature map thing is totally cool! I just love this group. You never know what cool stuff you will find.

I just put in a couple of authors I enjoy and the same name kept popping up over and over again,.Stephen Jay Gould . I will have to see if he shows up on one of our shelves pretty soon

I will put that on my TBR Susan. I loved Kindred, it was a 5 star read for me.

I'm glad you all liked the link. Pretty neat, huh?
