What are you reading right now?

1. Her Every Pleasure - Gaelen Foley
2. The Secret Bride - Diane Haeger
3. Dark Needs at Night's Edge - Kresley Cole
A historical romance, a historical fiction, and a PNR. I like a little variety.

Have "Beyond Control" and Sookie 5 on the backburner : )

I have Kat Richardson's Greywalker and Poltergeist sitting here waiting for me and I'm eagerly awaiting the new Sookie book.

I also loved Wicked--witch and curse, by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie. Whew! amazing! Anyone else read it?

Glad to see so many have liked this one because I have bought both books, but haven't gotten to them yet. I'll have to move them up to the top of my to read list!
I'm so excited about One Foot In The Grave. :D Now, I just have to decide if I want to go ahead and order it from Amazon or be patient and pick it up next time I'm near Borders...

My reading... *cough*... I'm going through a "historical" phase at the moment. I'm reading Theft of Shadows by Naomi Bellis (which has paranormal elements, so I guess it counts *g*) and Master by Colette Gale right now. :)

I finished up Witch Blood, and I've started Linnea's Down Home Zombie Blues. I'm REALLY liking it so far! The writing is great, and I like the twist on the typical zombie.

If you have any questions on the book or the characters, just flag me down. I'll be over there at the bar, third seat from the end on the left. ;-) ~Linnea

Being an author means sometimes feeling as if you're in a world of people frantically pulling on a door clearly marked PUSH...
;-) ~Linnea

About reading things and reviewing them out of order, I experienced an exception to this with Kresley. I accidentally started the "Immortals After Dark" series with book 2, then accidentally read book 3 thinking it was book 1, then finally read book 1. I loved book 2, adored book 3, and LOATHED book 1. If I had read book 1 first, I would have dropped the author in disgust and never read another thing she wrote, which would have been sad because the things I hated about the first book are absolutely nowhere to be found in any of the others... And I am loving book 4 so far :)

And I didn't like Lunatic Cafe very much. I didn't like Anita through half the the book. I think part of it was that Laurell didn't have enough Jean Claude in the book for me. Jean Claude is my main reason for reading them. He rocks. Overall though I didn't like it much. I'm ready for a new series now!

I have the first Kresley Cole sitting waiting and the first Karen Chance along with Alyssa Day's first
Atlantis book. Also I have the first two of Illona Andrews new series and some Jayne Castle, Richelle Mead, Kim Harrison and Toni Andrews.
Which do you guys recommend first...or should I re-read my BDB's again until Phury's book is released?

Cassandra, I got a little lost amongst the Cole books there - by book 1, you mean "The Warrior Wants Forever"? I'm just curious as to why you loathed it, cause I really enjoyed it. Hell, I love them all, they're my favourite PNR books!
I just picked up Embrace the Night by Karen Chance, too. I was reading an Amelia Peabody mystery, The Last Camel Died At Noon by Elizabeth Peters, but... I couldn't resist more Mircea. :D

---> Spoiler warning!!!
I give away some stuff about the Immortals After Dark series in this comment, so please don't read on to save the surprises for yourself!<---
Book 1 of the Immortals After Dark (IAD) series is "A Hunger Like No Other" as far as I can tell. I think book 4 ("Dark Needs at Night's Edge") was my favorite because the characters liked each other and were good to each other. Although book 2 was also awesome. After doing some digging, I see that "The Warlord Wants Forever" was a short story in an anthology. I haven't read that, but will need to soon!
"A Hunger Like No Other" is the one that I object to - specifically, the way the book rationalizes violence towards women. "He was tortured; he was sleeping; she's immortal and will heal; he didn't know she was inexperienced..." All culminating in Emma miraculously UNDERSTANDING him (due to a plot device, not character development) and forgiving him.
I'm very glad I did read her other books though, because Kresley's other female leads are independent, self-fulfilled, strong women (who therefore have some of the BEST dialogue ever) who take care of themselves and take their men to task over any crappy treatment. They start out with a strong core (with an Achille's heel that of course gets thumped throughout the book), and end up even stronger and more confident by the end. And her character development just keeps getting better and better.
When it comes to vicariously experiencing someone else's life through a novel, her later books seem a much more enjoyable ride.
Here endeth my soapbox.

After I drag my brain back out of the BDB universe, I'll start in on the Katie MacAlisters that my mother gave me last week, most particularly the dragons, since I actually already have read the Dark Ones in ebook form. I'm glad to have them in regular paperback now though, I'm sure I'll reread them and I get tired of sitting at the 'puter reading ebooks.

So far they haven't allowed themselves to 'fully' touch yet, despite how super hot it makes them; even though it makes them hot, it's a bit overwhelming to them, plus their lives are in danger from investigating the murders, so they have to be careful.
The antagonists are creeping me out so far, but York actually makes me understand how they became the way they are, and sort of feel sorry for them. Other than the one thing creeping me out, how they conduct their 'business' with others is very intriguing.

I'm almost finished with Jeaniene Frost's One Foot in the Grave. I'm... conflicted so far. [sigh]

Just finished One Foot in the Grave, and I'm giving Jenna Black's Devil Inside another try. I read a couple of chapters a few months ago and couldn't get into it.

Does anyone read the Weather Warden series? I can't wait for book 7, Gale Force, to come out in August.

It is comic book style, but fun and no sex. It is early Anita who is still working with her "mentor necrmancer". She is working a case and meets Jean Claude for the first time as she is investigating one of his employees.

I'm currently reading Witch Blood by Anya Bast, American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang, and Shakespeare's The Tempest for class (which is almost over, woo! I'm really looking forward to a few weeks of sweet, unadulterated pleasure reading.).
