There was a book that I read when I was 13 or 14 and don't remember the name or author. I only remember a bit of the story and the book cover so I'm going to describe the story and cover the best that I can.

It was about high school students and one of the students from the high school was murdered. I think there were two main characters, a boy and a girl both probably were 16. I think in the book they were trying to solve who murdered the other student. That's all I can remember as far as the story goes. I remember the cover pretty well though. I think both of the main characters were on the front and one had blonde hair, they were in a wooded area and it was dark. They might have been holding a light too, I'm not sure though. The book was from the 80s or early 90s and it was a young adult book.

it almost sounds like it would be a Christopher pike book or an rl stine only read a couple of them by both authors so im prob not much help

R.L Stine's earlier YA stuff perhaps? It sounds like something he would do...

I know it wasn't R.L Stine and I looked through Christopher Pike's books last night and didn't find it so it wasn't by him either. I'm not sure who the author was, but I don't think it was a well known author.
