Welcome to the Fourth Of July Challenge!! The categories for the challenge are listed below, feel free to read just one book, or try to fulfill all of the categories.This challenge will take place throughout the month of July.

Don't forget to let everyone know what book(s) you will be reading and when you finish! Those that finish will have their names added to the Challenge Stats Thread.

Please Note: The use of paranormal books to complete the challenge is preferred but not required.

Categories

1. Color Me - The cover is either red, white, and/or blue

2. Patriotism -
* The cover has some type of patriotic symbol (i.e.) flag, military seal, pic of the white house/capitol, presidential seal, etc
* The story takes place in Washington, D.C.

3. Military Man/Woman -
* The main character is either in (or was in) the military, CIA, and/or FBI
(the new Kitty book can be used for this category)

4. The 4th - The book is the fourth book in a series, or has the number 4 (or fourth) in the title.

5. Summer Special - The book takes place in the summer

I'll go with as that comes out towards the end of June and I am already planning to spend the 4th weekend reading it.

lol it's okay because there isn't a big overlap between the two groups :)

I have no problem with an overlap of challenges between two groups! For sure I'll be doing Kitty Goes to War and then I'll be looking for some books to go with the other catagories!

I wonder if Carrie Vaughn and the publishers timed the release once the title was set. If they did it is great marketing!

Woot! I brought the other day so that's my book for the challenge.

This Challenge sound slike fun, I am now going to hunt down some books for it

Here is what I have so far:

Looking at it, would Kiss of Crimson count, now that I look at the cover it looks kinda pink!

Also I haven't got any books that would come under patriotism, anyone got any suggestions?

Parts of the Adrian Phoenix's Maker's Song series take place in Washington D.C. That might work.

Okay, so, I caved.

I read my supposed to be Fourth of July Challenge book, My Soul To Take. It was just to addicting!

But instead I'm going to read the sequel because it's blue :D

It is a reread as I couldn't find anything else, and luckily for me my fave in the series. I love her Chicago Stars books

Well that is good to know. This will move to my bottom or even off the list.

This is what did me in: The heroine is scraped up in a murder attempt, so she's bleeding. The vampire hero kneels in front of her, glamours her, and licks her wounds to heal her (with his magic saliva, apparantly).

Her response to a totally hot guy licking her?

"You can't lick me," she said sternly. "I don't know your name."

Really? THAT'S what strikes you as odd about this situation?

I decided to read Steamed by Katie MacAlister instead. Katie Mac is always a sure bet for me, and I need something to clear the taste of bad vamp from my palatte.
