Nancy | 2838 comments Our book-of-the-month selections and featured authors have not been getting much discussion.

Is this something you would like to see continued?

Do you have suggestions to make it better?

Nancy | 2838 comments Anyone?

Hey Nancy, I would love to see it continued, of course! If only Amazon shipped quicker to my house, I would be able to discuss the titles more promptly. I'm about to start Kelland this weekend.

By the way, Nancy, do we have candidate books for August/September reads?

message 5: by Nancy (new)

Nancy | 2838 comments Not yet...I was thinking we could pick out one LGBT title and one in some other category, or we could feature another author like we did for June/July. What do you think?

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

I think that maybe we could stick with the first option, pick one LGBT and one in some other category.

Now, I have another suggestion also, maybe you guys will like, maybe not.

Maybe we could try picking one work of fiction and another non-fiction title. They could be both LGBT or in separate categories.

Nancy | 2838 comments Well, we can pick fiction or non-fiction for the LGBT titles. Would you like a separate non-fiction category where we could pick any title? I could do that for August. We've already done horror, fantasy, mystery and romance.

A separate category where we could pick from?

I'm not sure. I was thinking that maybe we could pick something more like "LGBT studies" for example, maybe it could stimulate more discussion than fiction novels.

What do you think about starting a thread where we could point out some good titles?

Nancy | 2838 comments We can always nominate a LGBT studies title for the LGBT category, but it leaves the option open to nominate fiction titles as well. Based on past polls, it seems that fiction is more popular.

I still like Ralph's idea of featuring a new author every two months. I could select one from our authors here, or maybe someone would like to volunteer?

I was hoping to get a few more comments here before we accept nominations for August.

Featuring authors is a quite good idea, I must agree.

Then, well, we could pick one author to be featured and then also choose a book from another category.

Anyways, I would like to emphasize that I believe it is extremely important to keep our group reads.

OK, we'll keep our group reads, even if it may be just two of us who read. :)

I'll start up a topic for nominations for LGBT titles (fiction or non-fiction).
