Chrizette you can also look at getting . It's like WoW, but doesn't require a monthly fee. And I've also heard many people suggest although I haven't played either.

message 156: by Chrizette (new)

Chrizette | 906 comments Thank you, Crusander. I will take a look at them too. WoW looks like a long shot at the moment.

Oh the horror!

I am having a nightmare of a time with MWEB. They're hosting me, and I locked myself out of my own site, and they keep giving me log in details that don't work!

The site has been put under construction in the meanwhile.

I'll be sure to link you when its up and running, but for now you can visit:

We've been functioning there mainly for the last three months. When the site goes up its going to be a fresh start! I'm building it myself :)

message 162: by Chrizette (new)

Chrizette | 906 comments Oh wow! Good luck with that. I am hopeless with stuff like that.

My husband's online store got hacked and he (and programmers from our host company) have been unable to find the code hidden somewhere in the site. He is building it back up too - it is very fustrating for him and taking a long time of tedius work.

I will check out Facebook and don't forget to let us know when you are back online.

message 163: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelstretch) It's horribly frustrating. Especially when its your own project and other people mess things up for you.

Sigh I got myself locked out once too lol
They had to reset my password etc.

I've been on the phone with them for the past two days and first they said it was because of that big hack that had the whole internet messed up and then it was something on my side, and then finally this afternoon I got a helpful consultant who figured out that something broke on their side and now its off to another department for me!

I wanted to go with MWEB because they're a big company and a local host, and I'm building with WordPress, and it all seemed easier than hosting overseas! Now I'm doubting myself :(

And my partner and I have just started a book blog and I want to register that domain too!

Sigh

My blog is also hosted with wordpress, but through Afrihost. So far I'm loving them. If you get fed up, check them out :)

Nazia Kera (naziak) | 13 comments I love playing scrabble on my phone or the board game.

I am also currently addicted to Word Drop 2 - Panic Extreme on my smartphone... I'm trying to improve my position on the global leaderboards (presently at number 11 :-))

I also love scrabble!

Chrizette | 906 comments I got a game called INSPECTOR PARKER. It is a game based loosely on CLUE. I love it! You eliminate characters, weapons, etc based on clues given until you unmask the murderer, victim and reason for the murder.

Kelly (kelstretch) here it is:

It's a bit empty, but it will fill out soon! Lots of new stuff starting up as well, and I'm on the hunt for more writers, so when those positions fill (really hard to find people that are willing to write for free)the content will come faster as well.

Kelly (kelstretch) I'm playing Assassins creed IV: Black Flag and blizzards new card game, Hearthstone.

message 181: by Claudia (new)

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1779 comments I know I'm way behind the times here, but I just got Skyrim and I've been playing for the past three days. OMG this game is addictive! There's just so much going on. I'm going to have withdrawal symptoms when I have to go back to work.

message 182: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I know, I get so immersed in Skyrim! What makes it worse is that I'm a hopeless completionist - I want to do all the side quests, check out all the locations, etc.

Re-playing Borderlands with the DLC character Gaige at the moment. That game also takes up a ton of my time with all the challenges you can complete.

Chrizette | 906 comments Started playing Forge of Empires online (foe.tv). It plays in real time, so 15 minutes is 15 minutes . . . :)

Chrizette | 906 comments Got a PS3 today - any ideas for a "new gamer" . . .

message 185: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelstretch) The PS3 has a huge library of games, some you can find really cheap now, especially if you don't mind buying preplayed games from BT games. Personally I loved the uncharted trilogy. The main character is a treasure hunter, and the story has thrills, romance and a bit of comedy throughout the plot. It's made exclusively for the PS3 so the graphics and handling are excellent. Then there's the Assassins Creed franchise, there are currently 6 available games. The first isn't very fun, and luckily you don't need to play it to know what's going on. The fun really starts with Assassins Creed 2. The game incorporates history and historical figures as well as representations of cities that are really close to reality and is really one of my favourites. Little Big Planet is another excellent choice! It's a platformer, and you play as a little sack person, who you can dress up and so on. It's one of the more casual games on the system and it's really fun. There are loads others, some more of my favourites are: ratchet & clank, tomb raider, oblivion and skyrim, final fantasy (not the best, not the PS3's fault though), batman trilogy and the wide variety of Lego games available. The list is so long, and I've played a lot. You should also invest in playstation plus. It's 150 rand for a 3 month subscription and every month new games are added to the instant game collection that you'll have access to for as long as you keep the ps plus subscription going. The games need to be downloaded to the system though, and so they rely on your internet cap and hard drive size. They range from 4-16GB each.

message 186: by Chrizette (new)

Chrizette | 906 comments Thank you, Kelly - will look around.

Husband bought Call of Duty 4 but keeps getting a "fatal error" code - any ideas?

message 187: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelstretch) Is he trying to play multiplayer?

message 188: by Chrizette (new)

Chrizette | 906 comments Nope - just installing it and trying to get it going.

message 189: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelstretch) Well I'm reading up on it, it seems many people encounter it. Most say to remove the system from the internet connection (not sure if yours is connected to a network) and then the single player campaign becomes available to play. Which PS3 did you get?

message 190: by Chrizette (new)

Chrizette | 906 comments Okay, I assume the internet connection should show in the settings? I didn't even know there are different kinds of PS3 - is it the hard drive size that makes them different?

message 191: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelstretch) The hard drive size and the size of the actual console and sometimes even the colour! Yes, if you're connected to the internet it will show under settings>network settings> something about an internet connection and then will say enabled or disabled .

message 192: by Chrizette (new)

Chrizette | 906 comments Thanks Kelly - will try that after hubby stops playing Need for Speed :)

Well its black :) And 12Gig

message 193: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelstretch) Then it's a slimline one, they're very nice! Enjoy it, and if you need any help give me a shout!

message 194: by Chrizette (new)

Chrizette | 906 comments Yes, I assume towards the lower end as it is half the price of the ps4. I still am trying just to keep in the road with Need for Speed . . . but am going to google the games you mentioned and see if there is something I like.

message 195: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelstretch) The PS4 was just released in December here, and it's horribly overpriced. We should be paying around 4K for it, not 6.5. The PS3 was a better buy in my opinion anyway, you have a huge library of games that are affordable to get through, whereas the PS4 now has a library of about 16 in total. The hard drive is the only lower end bit about the console you have, and that's easily exchangeable for much less than what you would have payed for a 500gb model.

message 196: by Chrizette (new)

Chrizette | 906 comments I assume the hard drive is only for the saved portions of the games you play (?). So that should not be a problem immediately.

message 197: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelstretch) Depending on the game, some save only, and some install to the drive. You shouldn't have a problem with space for a good while though.

message 198: by Chrizette (new)

Chrizette | 906 comments Just wanted to say thank you, Kelly. Turned internet off and now it is working :) Thank you!!

message 199: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelstretch) Pleasure :) enjoy it!

I agree with Kelly,

Ratchet and Clank is pretty good.
Skyrim is awesome - though as a "newbie" be prepared for some training time... took me a couple of tries to get my character both moving and looking around at the same time. It was hilarious! and I felt like a total spaz.
Assassin's Creed is a definite! Though my hubby reckons the PC editions are better in that they have more mods and DLC's, not to mention better graphics.

And of course, for the zombie lovers - Resident Evil.

Other ideas for relatively easy games:
Heavenly sword (though the are one or two chapters that require serious patience.)
Various fighting/driving games such as Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibre / Need for Speed, Burn Out etc etc...
