Net Galley: Freebies for the Cost of a Review

I got this from Lerner Publishing Group, and I had it on my TBR, so I'm excited. :)

And I got all these from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (and I had Hunger, The SEcret of Ka and Tyger Tyger already on my TBR):

I requested these from Carina Press:

And I didn't get them, but in the email I got, it said:
Unfortunately, the publisher has declined to allow access to the title based on the information provided in your profile. You may want to update your profile to provide more information to the publisher, and try requesting the title again. For example: double-check that you have correct links, provide a direct link to your book review blog (general life bloggers, infrequent bloggers, and new bloggers will be declined), a direct link to your Good Reads, Amazon, and/or LibraryThing profile page (infrequent and new reviewers will be declined, as well as profiles set to private).
I didn't have the direct link to my GR profile in my Net Galley profile, so I did that and re-requested them and so far have gotten two of them, still waiting on the rest.
Others I am still waiting on are:

I requested and received

I read and reviewed Hunger today all ready!
I'm still waiting on

I think I'm gonna go back and request more. I'm so happy!

LOl I did the same - I have lots books to read and review now. One done already and working on the second :)
I created a shelf for the ones I have here http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/...

:) Thanks for the info, Shelleyrae. I'll definitely be heading back over for more requests.

See here:
I'm really glad that Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ posted that notice or I would have never known, even though I'm apparently included in these guidelines for bloggers.

Eventually if they like what you see the publishers will add you to their auto approved list in which case approvals are quick

I am currently reading

The reason I got the Sony is I knew I would never get through all my galleys if I read them on the computer.

I haven't gotten too many titles from Netgallery. So far I have gotten Angelfire by Courtney Moulton and Delrium by Laren Oliver, but they have some great UF reads too. They Had the latest rachel morgan book by kim harrison and also the third sabrina bane book

I am glad to hear the Kindle function will be back soon. I just knew I wouldn't get them read if I had to read them on the computer. I can't read for long periods of time on a backlit screen. I love the library option with the Sony too. Can't wait to get a card and try it out. :) I have Angelfire as well. Have you read it yet? I think that was one a lot of people wanted. I am trying to decide which to read next. I guess whichever is the closest to expiring. :)

Yep most are 60 days. It is easy to forget about them with so many on the TBR and challenge books.

Most of the publishers there are ok with you posting your reviews here. Just make sure to add the link to direct them to your reviews. I recommend also adding a direct link for the review i made about the book, to this site at the bottom of every review.
If you also have a blog that you keep updated in a regular basis, also add that one in your profile. The more places or active you are at making reviews, the more books publishers will approve. Some like Hachete, Simon and Schruder, etc.; tend to be very selective on whom they approve.
Also, some publishers, like those from Religious/Christian romances. Will probably not approve you if those are not the type of books you normally read. Although they seem to make exceptions when you have an active blog, instead of just posting the reviews here.

I post a link to my GR reviews at the bottom of each NG review (on their site), like Rossy. I don't have a blog. I have thought about creating one b/c I'm sure it improves your chances of receiving a request from NG. But, never have.

The reader is free and NG explains how to add their books to it.

I woke up to have 2 in my inbox on a Sunday morning, not what I expected -- both from Orbit/Hachette.

I also got very long rview times -- they want the review 2 weeks before publishing date, which for the Rardin book is in June and the other book is in March! Okay, I am super excited. Thanks for posting about this!

so so lucky. I still have to wait for the kindle button til next month. I hate the adobe reader with great passion. I just couldn't read it on there.

exciting feeling to get them already, isn't it? I remember when I got my first book from them I was super excited XD

You do have to watch those expiry dates - especially with the larger publishers. They are serious about deadlines and do check your reviews. Harlequin and Carina Press are the most likely to approve requests in my experience :)

Basically they have publishers offering a mix of ARC's and already published for review. Choose books you are interested in from the catalogue and make your requests. Then you get a yes or no answer from the publisher basically.
They are Ebooks - so you need to be able to read them on your computer or an ereader/Kindle/Ipod etc. You don't have to be a blogger or anything - I only have GoodReads basically and so far I have gotten every book Ive requested.
