I finished Miranda Neville's THE DANGEROUS VISCOUNT last night. It was really a fun book. Hero was an unfashionable, virginal, misogynist book collector, and heroine was a widowed beauty who accepted a bet that she couldn't get him to kiss her. He does, of course, and when he finds out about the bet he sets out to break her heart. He turns himself into a stylish gentleman, learns the art of clever conversation, and thanks to an inheritance becomes quite popular. Loved the male-makeover story and I'm always a sucker for a virgin hero.
I had to order The Dangerous Viscount, and I'm impatiently waiting for it. Everything I hear about it makes me more eager to read it.
Today I'm starting Toni Blake's Whisper Falls and hoping that I can get Gish Jen's World and Town from the library soon.
Just FYI, AAR posted a new interview with Lisa Kleypas today, and according to what LK says there, those three titles we were wondering about will be Friday Harbor books. BUT they won't be published in 2011. Kleypas says no new books from her in 2011!

Ugh! Wylene! I am so jealous re: Whisper Falls. I'm hoping like mad to win an ARC in her contest! Mine are up on .
I just read Romeo Romeo. I'm afraid it didn't work for me at all--perhaps because I'm married to a half-Sicilian Italian American? And while I certainly have heard family members use all those Italian terms over and over, in some way they just didn't ring true. (Also the mom didn't ring true at all.)
But mostly because I just couldn't believe that Nick would spend an entire week taking care of her at such an early stage in the relationship.
I'm reading some Jo Beverley short stories and waiting for Oct 26--the Crusie rerelease and Kleypas book.

Manda and Wylene,
Have either of you read The Wild Marquis? I downloaded the sample for it to my kindle, but for some reason it just didn't grab me... I definitely want to read The Dangerous Viscount but I'd like to read them in order. What's your opinion on the first one????

I actually haven't yet, Monica. I will say that TDV was a little slow starting out. But I think it's because Neville really tries to show you what the hero and heroine are like in their natural environment before she starts throwing stones at them;) Once I got into the story it read much more quickly.

Actually the cleaning and cooking was right in line with both my husband and brother in law! Also note the importance of vacuums as gadgets . I can get them to do pretty much anything if it involves a cool gadget. And while I can't speak for the cleaning abilities in the very large extended family pretty much all the men cook.
No, what bothered me was the language--it was excessive, in use of italian phrases and so forth, and the relationships didn't ring true--particularly the mom saying marry him even after the sister found her fiance with another women...

Manda, I'm not even a cat person, and I loved your kitty pics. Here's hoping you win!
Monica, I did read The Wild Marquis and liked it quite a lot. I loved the heroine. She was not just another contemporary heroine masquerading in historical dress, but an interesting, intelligent woman of her times. I found her immensely appealing. I liked the hero too, but his name kept pulling me out of the story. It probably didn't affect anyone else that way, but it was enough for me to give it a B+ rather than an A. However, MN was good enough that The Dangerous Viscount has been on my TBB list since I knew it was being released.

I just finished Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage by Jennifer Ashley. It was a great follow-up to The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie. Now I am working on Anne Mallory's Seven Secrets of Seduction. It is okay so far, but not my favorite of hers.
Thanks Manda and Wylene. I think I'll give The Wild Marquis a try. Who knows, maybe I just wasn't in the "mood" for historical at that time. Thanks again for your replies! :-)

Also reading Scoundrel by Zoe Archer. Book two in The Blades Of The Rose series. Its great so far!
I'm reading the making of a gentleman by Shana Galen. Her depiction of the hero is very well dine but I have to say the plot is driving me nuts. Two entirely separate sets of bad guys, plus I can't believe the heroine would take the betrothal to the bad guy seriously

Now I'm about to start on Anne Gracie's TO CATCH A BRIDE (I realized I didn't read that when it came out) and then follow that up with THE ACCIDENTAL WEDDING. The characters are kind of fuzzy for me so I may have to go skim over the first 2 in the series. Believe it or not the characters that stand out the most for me in this series so far are Ethan and Tibby (secondary characters from the first 2 books)! LOL
Irish, I love Ethan and Tibby too. They get a mention in TAW, plus there's another secondary romance.
An Honorable Thief is rarely mentioned in Gracie discussions, but I love it. And one of the reasons is the two unusual secondary romances. Gracie does those so well.

PJ, I don't read a lot of romantic suspense, but I love St. Claire's Bullet Catcher series. I'm looking forward to the Guardian Angelinos.

I have Deadly Little Secrets on my list. It's just that there are so many books on my list right now that I'm having to assign priority in buying them. And, of course, the autobuys get highest priority.
I've got Deadly Little Secrets on my list too!
I just finished reading THOSE WHO SAVE US by Jenna Blum. This is not a romance book in any way shape or form. A co-worker gave it to me, and I was hesitant to read it, but thought I'd give it a try. Well, I'm so glad I did because it was AMAZING. It's a novel about Anna, a German girl/woman during WWII and her small daughter Trudy. It tells about their struggles during that time, and also flashes forward to 1996 where Trudy is a professor of German history. Heartwrenching story.

Calila, I haven't read Weddings Can Be Morder yet, but I plan to. Christie Craig always makes me laugh.
Just finished the dangerous viscount. The first couple of chapters I thought I wouldn't like it but I ended up liking it a lot. It was interesting seeing the gender reversal on the bet although it did make it hard to warm to the heroine.
I'll start re-reading EJ's This Duchess of Mine, I think I love Jemma and Elijah more and more with every reading.

Now I'm about to start ..."
I love Match Me If You Can! SEP books are awesome!

I'm glad you stuck with it, DLS. I just finished THE WILD MARQUIS and loved it even more than TDV. Everything Janga said about this one earlier holds true for me as well. (Except for the name thing.) I loved the bookseller and book auction details as well as the relationship between Cain and Juliana. They were both incredibly likable and vulnerable characters. Miranda Neville is on my auto-buy list now.
