Diane U (djuseless) Lorie, you MUST add Search, The: A Novel! I just read it for Revell publishing for a blog hop in January 16-22 and it was amazing! You do not need to read The Choice or Waiting, The: A Novel beforehand! It was just released 1/1/11.

Okay Diane I added that one it looks good! I have both The Choice and THe Waiting in my basket so they will probably get read first but that one looks good. Thanks for the reccomend!

message 9: by Diane U (new)

Finished Clutter Rehab by Laura Wittmann. I was sent the book to review. Its a really small book full of ideas to help get clutter out of your home and lives. Wonderful book. Might motivate me to work on my clutter areas in my home lol

I'm going so slow. I think my new Kindle may help this month. I got several books that I must read and I have them in paperback so I don't know how much its going to help lol

1. Dark Harvestby Karen Harper
2. Courting Miss AmselKim Vogel Sawyer(Reading for a bookclub)
3. and 4 I'm leaving open right now because I'm having a hard time deciding lol.

I started Hannah's Dream and I'm almost done with it. I started reading it and figured out I've read it before. although I don't remember the begining. I remember parts in the middle and I don't remember how it ends so I'll finish it this month too.

I'd like to read at least one on my Kindle too.

message 16: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I definitely find it faster to read on my Kindle! Looking forward to to hearing what you think of Courting Miss Amsel, I have it on my wishlist.

My goals for March:
1. Plain Proposal by Beth Wiseman (Almost Finished!)
2. Secrets of Harmony Grove by Mindy Starns Clark
3. Lilly's Wedding Quilt by Kelly Long
4. A Time to Heal by Barbara Cameron
5. My Church Book Club Selection, we meet on Wed. will add it in here after we select.

That's a HUGE goal for myself, but all of them are on my Kindle and I seem to be reading faster so we shall see.

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Lorie, I plan to read Lilly's Wedding Quilt and A Time to Heal too!

I definitely think I read faster on my Kindle, otherwise I wouldn't read so much during termtime.

Good look, and looking forward to your reviews :)

Finished Plain Proposal. It was really good but I think I waited too long between the others to really remember the other books in the series, lol. It was still a really good story that I enjoyed and my first Netgalley book on my Kindle. There were some issues with that though. Some of the sentences were mixed up a little. Like a sentence would be finsihed like 3 lines from where it left off and the beginning of every chapter the first sentence was kind of hard to read. I'm sure it was how it was formatted even though it was sent directly to my Kindle but it just made it harder to read.

message 25: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Sometimes Kindle books from NetGalley screw up my formatting too, I know exactly what you mean.

Do you think Plain Proposal could be read on its own, or would it be too confusing? I requested it but I haven't read the others in the series and don't own them yet.

message 26: by Lorie (new)

Lorie | 1324 comments Mod
I think it could be read on its own. The old characters come back for an event (trying not to spoil anything)I had a hard time as I was reading trying to remember how these characters fit into the other books in the series which probably means you can read without it. I did not think this was as good as some of the others in the Daughters of the Promise series but I still really liked it.

message 27: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments I have that one to read as well. Yeah the format for the netgalley kindle books tend to me a little messed up but it does not bother me very much.

message 28: by Lorie (new)

Lorie | 1324 comments Mod
It did not bother me after I got used to it, Abbie. just took me awhile to get used to it.

Finished The Protector: Families of Honor, Book Two and The Caregiver: Families of Honor, Book One. Both were great but I think I liked The Protector: Families of Honor, Book Two better. I finished it in about 1 day which should say something lol.

Moving onto
Lilly's Wedding Quilt, The Red Siren, and To Kill a Mockingbird, A Time to Heal

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) 10/50 is pretty good so far! I'm sure we'll all have more time for reading during the summer...although maybe the kids will be under your feet more when they're on vacation?

I spent a whole day reading The Protector: Families of Honor, Book Two I left dishes, laundry and other duties and now I got to catch up lol. I'm paying for that day, but it was so worth it lol. It was raining all day and slightly chilly and reading and sipping on hot chocolate was so nice. Yes the kids will be home more in the summer, but I hope to read a lot too.

Finished Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw by Jeff Kinney. You all may think I'm crasy reading a 5th graders book. Well I have a son in 5th grade and he loves these books. Actually they were the only books I could get him to read for awhile. But that's not the reason I like to read these books. After taking my son to see the first movie, I decided I need to read these books. I really liked the first one and so I have continued. I don't think the boy in the book is a very good role model but the book is quit funny and I actually remember feeling kind of the same way the poor boy did in Middle School. I enjoyed the books and they are really quick reads for me. I also love the comics the author uses in the book to make it even more funny.

I have several books on NetGalley I want to read but they don't have the kindle button an I can't get it to work to convert it on my new computer? So sad because several I really wanted to read but I don't really want to read on my computer.

message 41: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) If you still have the Calibre add-on downloaded to your old computer, can you transfer it to your new computer so it works? It's sad that some of them still don't have the Kindle button :(

It won't even work on my old computer anymore? My husband worked on it for 3 hours last night. It would not even work on my old computer anymore. I wish I could figure it out!

message 43: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Hmm, that's odd! I converted a regular PDF the other day but I've not done any Adobe Digital Editions ones for a while, maybe something's changed on Calibre?

I have been reading but my reading time has really been cut down. I have twins in 1st grade and every night we are suppose to read 20 minutes together. They have a decodable book which is from the reading class and then they read another book from the library on their reading level that we read and take an AR quiz online every night. I have been adding these books to my goodreads too and I plan to write reviews for them too. Guess that will help me not get behind lol.

message 47: by Rachel (last edited Oct 12, 2011 06:50AM) (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Totally count children's books - they're still books! I had to read a lot of short plays last semester that only took me an hour or so to read but I counted them since I reckon even the shorter books count as reading :) How are your twins enjoying their reading assignments? I still remember my first ever book from school - it was just pictures and we were told to make up a story!

It is such an amazing thing to watch my twins reading books, that I used to read to them! It's so neat seeing a child find the love of reading!

message 49: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I know if I have kids I will definitely encourage reading and minimize video game/television time! What a great thing to instill in your twins Lorie!

message 50: by Carolyn E (new)

Carolyn E | 239 comments Lorie, this sounds like a wonderful way to help children learn to read. I volunteered for a while at a Title I elementary school near my home, and I was absolutely appalled at the total lack of reading skills of these children. There is something drastically wrong with the way our children are (not) learning basic reading, writing, and math skills.
