Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Yay, thanks Abbie! :)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Can someone fix the cover of Vanish in Plain Sight? It's clearly showing the cover for Hide in Plain Sight. The cover is on NetGalley, I can post it if other's can't find it.

I think I just did it! I was also the one to add the description.

Dear Librarians,

I recently read A Time to Heal by Barbara Cameron and when I did my review I noticed 2 discrepancies between the info on the book and the actual book. I don't know where the write up came from, but can one of up amend it?

1. It's not Christopher Marshall, it should be Chris Matlock.

2. It's not Rebecca Bontrager, it should be Hannah Bontrager.

Thanks.

Do any of you librarians have Shelley Shepard Grey on Facebook? She posted the cover for this book Christmas in Sugarcreek: A Christmas Seasons of Sugarcreek Novel if one of you wanted to add it.
You can find her facebook page here

message 60: by Diane U (last edited Mar 22, 2011 10:59AM) (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I'd be happy to but Facebook is blocked at work. Boohoo! If it is not fixed when I get home tonight, I'll try for you!

While we're talking about Christmas in Sugarcreek: A Christmas Seasons of Sugarcreek Novel by Shelley Shepard Gray, we should probably update with the link in the book lists by author page, right?

message 63: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Indeed, I shall add it to her list and to the list of upcoming releases sometime later. Just about to eat my dinner right now!

I checked out a book from the library A Wedding Quilt for Ella, but the cover on the picture of the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ link says the title is A Dream House For Ella? Is this one of his books he has renamed again?

message 67: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) From what I can tell, the photo of the book that's on GoodReads isn't the official one that it was published with, so maybe it was given a different title and cover pre-publication? It was definitely only published recently so perhaps A Dream House for Ella was the working title?

message 68: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I agree with what Rachel said!

message 69: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Maybe we should change the picture if that's not the official cover?

message 70: by Lorie (new)

Lorie | 1324 comments Mod
That's so confusing can we change it to the cover that's really on the book? I googled imaged and found the right one there, The book I have is definately called A Wedding Quilt for Ella.

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I'll change it!

I'd do it but Facebook is blocked at work so I can't access it. Is it over on Amazon yet? What is the name of it and I will check and post it.

The name is A Texan's Honor its the second book in her WEstern series. It is not on Amazon yet, Just on her facebook page. Thanks for trying Diane.

message 75: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Can anyone fix this? Her Restless Heart is showing up under the wrong Barbara Cameron but I can't figure out to change the author's name to the correct Barbara. Someone did this a while back, I think it may have been Camille? A couple of Barbara's other books are listed under the wrong author as well.

message 76: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I can't figure it out. I think it would be easier if one of them used a middle initial but they don't. Hmmmm! I'm stumped!

message 77: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I can do it! It took a while to figure out but to have books by different authors with the same name you add multiple spaces. So one is listed as Barbara Cameron, and to change it to the other it would be Barbara Cameron with two spaces in between the first and last names.

message 78: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I think I fixed it.

Thank you, Camille! I was sorry I ever mentioned that my middle initial was M because I don't use that ever...I've been writing for more than 30 years and never been mixed up with another Barbara Cameron until the mother of the child actors wrote her book a couple of years ago.

message 82: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments It's easy enough to attribute books to the correct author with the same name once you get the hang of it. The author with the famous kids has one space between her first and last name when entering the author data on GoodReads and the author that visits us in this group has two spaces between her first and last name when entering her author information for a book on GoodReads. :)

Could one of our lovely librarians correct the number of pages in the hardback edition of A Plain and Fancy Christmas by Cynthia Keller? The write up says 240, but there are 323 pages. I have too many pages remaining to be 97% done!

A Plain and Fancy Christmas by Cynthia Keller Thanks in advance.

Barbara wrote: "Did you have an Advance Reader Copy, Barbara?"

No, it's a hardcover that my mother-in-law most likely got through Christian Book Distributors (their information says 323 pages).

I've been reading the Brides of Amish Country series by Patricia Davids. The two newest ones are not linked to the series. The Farmer Next Doorand The Christmas Quilt. Can these be linked to the series? There are also two links for The Doctor's Blessing and The Doctor's Blessing. Anyways one is linked to the series and the other is not.

message 89: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (atimetolove) | 99 comments That's weird. Sometimes there are things that are in ARCs that will still be corrected before the book goes to press. The ARCs are intended for reviewers and sometimes for contests where we're getting the word out before the book comes out.

Done! The reason the two versions of The Doctor's Blessing hadn't been combined was because Patricia's name was spelt backwards, like Davids, Patricia, so it didn't show up under her usual name. I've fixed it now :)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Just a heads up to the librarians in our groups, GoodReads is moving away from using Amazon.com to pull information about books like # of pages, publishing date, cover picture, etc. This could cause some interesting glitches with books, so be prepared to do more editing in the future!

See more information here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/7...

I noticed this, and I've been trying to add some information from publishers' websites etc, but how is this going to work for Kindle editions which are obviously taken from Amazon's website?

It says they will keep the Kindle editions since they are unique to Amazon. I wonder where they are going to be getting their information for books from now?

message 98: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments They make it sound so easy to get the information from author and publisher websites but its not always easy and they don't want you using sites that sell the book. Annoying!

I know, I've mainly been using publishers' websites or catalogues but I've noticed some books from the 90s that are possibly going to get deleted and I've no idea how to prove that these books exist as they aren't typically listed online. I think maybe library websites are okay?

message 100: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments Yeah I use because they do a great job with series information. I think this is going to take away from some of the older books though because Amazon has an amazing library of information even for old books.
