Haha, it's confusing with so many books with the same titles. ;) I hope it gets better too! I'm sure it's just now in the beginning before the game has really started.

Steph (angel4492) | 32482 comments @Rebecca - glad you're sticking with HG. I felt it really picked up once the games started. Sucked me in and wouldn't let go until the end. Hope you like it when it's all said and read. :)

@Wan - I read that one, same as Vivian, b/c the group raved about it and really enjoyed it. Hope to read the rest of the trilogy this year. I listened to the audio version and hope to do the same with the rest.

@AV - Good luck w/your NG requests! Let us know what cha get!

@Vivian - Yep! And this shelf is a biggy! TONS of choices, shouldn't have any problems finding something you're anxious to read. I hope. Sometimes more choices makes it harder to choose.

CyberAlmu | 302 comments Done with The Hunger Games. Ok, I admit I rewarded it with 5 stars. It was a big contrast in style with the previous one but when I got used to the rhythm I couldn't put it down. It also made me shed some tears... Touching.

And because today I'm feeling feverish and sore and hurt all over, and I'm not in the mood for something new, I decided to reread Cry Wolf (When I read it I didn't know it was a spin-off, and I enjoyed it a lot). I read it last summer and I can only remember the essential.

Steph (angel4492) | 32482 comments Glad you enjoyed HG, CyberAlmu! Hope you are feeling better very soon. Wrap up and rest.

message 156: by Desperado (last edited Jan 17, 2011 05:43AM) (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Finished Branded As Trouble (Rough Riders, #6) by Lorelei James & Ruthless Game (GhostWalkers, #9) by Christine Feehan .

Now I'm in limbo. I have 3 challenge books left to read for Jan & I can't get to them at the moment. One hasn't come out yet & the other 2 haven't been sent to my library yet. So I'm not sure WHAT to read right now. Hmmmm.

message 157: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments I'm currently reading First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1) by Jeaniene Frost . It's not as good as the Night Huntress books, but still ok.

message 158: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Brown (nickichicki) | 2 comments Just finished Broken (Women of the Otherworld, #6) by Kelley Armstrong and my Fever re-read. Working my way through Deadly Desire (Riley Jenson Guardian, #7) by Keri Arthur but will be dropping everything for Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning tomorrow!!!

Steph (angel4492) | 32482 comments Enjoy it, Nicole! Let us know what you think of it.

message 160: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Yesterday I was having a crappy day until I read The New World by Patrick Ness I loved this short story prequel. It was amazing. I completely sympathised with Viola, the main character (MC). Best short story EVER!

I picked up the first book The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness but had to put it down because it was a different MC. I had no patience today for his uneducated language, which I was having trouble understanding. Hopefully I'll pick it back up again soon.

I'm feeling pressure to read Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning because of all the hype over the new release at the moment. Do I read it? Do I not? It's driving me CRAZY!

message 161: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I saw read it, but I love Mac and the Fever world and have from the first sentance on the first page of Darkfever. :)

I am reading .... Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning

I also have these two going:
Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters

And am listening to this in audio:
The Likeness by Tana French

message 162: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Read Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins and Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins .

I was feeling like Catching Fire was just too depressing to finish, so it took a while, but as soon as I did, I NEEDED to read Mockingjay immediately! It's one of the most solid trilogies I've read in a long time, great story, well thought out, a little heart-wrenching, but what dystopian story isn't? Love good books, don't you :)

Now, I need to read something a little happier!

A book away from an episode of hoarders (fidgit77) | 740 comments Vivian wrote: "Hehe, gotta question my taste now, because I liked Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate. It was about 150 pages too long, after finishing it, I was confused like no other, and the love story is just lame......"

I liked it ok and I was eager to read the sequel. The sequel really killed it for me. I'm done with the series.

message 164: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 695 comments I am reading Misguided Angel (Blue Bloods, #5) by Melissa de la Cruz

A book away from an episode of hoarders (fidgit77) | 740 comments At the moment, I am reading Dreadnought (The Clockwork Century, #3) by Cherie Priest , The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff and listening to Infinity (Chronicles of Nick, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon .

message 166: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32482 comments LOL @ Ames! Fever indecision. I'll eventually read Shadowfever. I'm interested to see how things end, but not dying to. Probably b/c it's been a while since finishing #4, I'm over the whole "OMG, what happens next" anxiety.

Vivian, I totally hear ya on the need for something happier. Maybe a hot, juicy PNR to balance it out. :)

Succubus77, Interested to hear how you like The Replacement and Infinity.

Has anyone read/finished Afterlife by Merrie Destefano? This book is frustrating me. WHERE is the world-building? I feel like Alice, dropped into the resurrection world with no idea what all these people are, how they got there, what they're doing/job is .... UGH! I'm a little over 1/2 way thru and only b/c, like a terrible movie, I've invested this much time on it, I have to finish it, no matter how lost I'm feeling. LOL!

message 167: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Bummer about Afterlife Steph! But I know how you feel about the need to finish. Hopefully, there's something in there to redeem the story :)

FINALLY finished Mistborn The Final Empire (Mistborn, #1) by Brandon Sanderson . 5 stars! Just wow, fantasy done amazingly well. Unlike Afterlife, no complaints about the world building and magic system. I fell in love with the two main characters, Vin and Kelsier. It's just a well-crafted story, with everything tying together nicely at the end. Loved loved loved it. Definitely going to read more by Sanderson :)

message 168: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32482 comments Thanks, Vivian. Its written beautifully, just equally confusing, IMO. I'll let ya know once I'm done. :)

A book away from an episode of hoarders (fidgit77) | 740 comments I'm iced in at home today, with the books I'm reading still at work.

Should I read Pleasure Unbound, The Darkest Night, Darkfever, or Dragon Actually on this lazy day?

message 170: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 2098 comments I'd vote for Pleasure Unbound.

Finished Scent of Darkness Scent of Darkness (Darkness Chosen, #1) by Christina Dodd for my Bingo read yesterday at lunch. More of a fun read instead of a "OMG! Fantastic" one. But still interesting. Lots of unfinished business, which I was expecting since it's part of a quartet. I'm planning on reading all 4 since I'm really interested in seeing the family break the deal with the devil.

Started Alien Tango Alien Tango (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #2) by Gini Koch . It's living up to my expectations so far. Last year, I fell in love with the first book Touched by an Alien Touched by an Alien (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #1) by Gini Koch . Gini Koch gives Kitty a wonderfully humorous voice that edges on sarcastic at times. But not in an annoying way! Can't wait to get back into it.

I'd go with Pleasure Unbound, especially if you like your romances sexy & dirty.

I read Dragon Actually this morning. Short, fun, smutty read. I think I'll start on the Demonica series since it's been recommended twice now.

Well, if I were you I would continue with the dragons by G. A. Aiken. I think they get better as the series goes along.

I'm reading a series about the Ferals by Pamela Palmer:
Desire Untamed
Obsession Untamed
Passion Untamed
Rapture Untamed
This series is like a (just not as big) copy of BDB. There are the funny "h"s in the names of the heros, but everything reads a little toned down in comparison to BDB.
Has anyone read it already?

message 177: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32482 comments I was going to rec Pleasure Unbound or Darkest Night. Enjoy whichever you choose, Succubus77. :)

Daffodil, I am determined to start this series this year. Hopefully before too long while there are just the two out (Kitty Katt). I remember you saying you really liked the first one. Hope #2 is just as good.

Ames, I'm looking forward to those. Need to get back to it before too much time passes and other books get in the way of me continuing on.

message 178: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32482 comments I've seen that one around and thought about checking it out, Karin. I haven't yet though.

Karin Elisabeth, I've got all the Feral Warriors to read but I haven't started yet. Glad you're enjoying them! I'll have to see about bumping them up the list.

message 181: by CyberAlmu (new)

CyberAlmu | 302 comments Feeling much better now, thanks Steph for the well wishes!

I have finished already Cry Wolf, which I loved (except for the bad translation, I promise I'll reread it in English next time, so I don't feel like murduring the translator) and Succubus Dreams. I felt really sad at the end. I hate it when things go so wrong in the stories!!

I've read the first chapter to the next Georgina Kincaid installment, which was at the very end of the book, but I think I'd read something else before going for it.

I can't decide between Kitty and the Midnight Hour, Halfway to the Grave, Stray and Tempting Danger

message 182: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32482 comments Glad you're feeling better. :) All good choices! My vote is in the order you listed them. Hope you enjoy your next pick.

message 183: by Daffodil (last edited Jan 21, 2011 10:31AM) (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 2098 comments I highly recommend Gini Koch's series so far. And I love the cover art:

Touched by an Alien (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #1) by Gini Koch Alien Tango (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #2) by Gini Koch Alien in the Family (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #3) by Gini Koch Aliens in Armani by Gini Koch
I think the fourth one is a mock-up. Or maybe it's a clone of the first cover?

I was sitting on the couch laughing like a loon last night while reading Tango. I had to force myself to put it down and go to bed, as it is I only got about 3.5 hours of sleep before work today. Then I had a bunch of errands to run on my lunch hour, so I couldn't sit in the break room and read for more than 10 minutes. :( Darn those utilities for expecting timely payments! LOL. I'm really looking forward to getting home tonight and finishing this up. Of course, then I have to wait 'til April 5 for the third book. Book four is scheduled for October.

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 2098 comments After finishing Alien Tango Alien Tango (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #2) by Gini Koch (Did I mention it was a great read -- 5 stars), I had a mystery weekend, not to be confused with a lost weekend. LOL. Read Murder is Binding (A Booktown Mystery, #1) by Lorna Barrett okay, 3 star, non-para & The Penguin Who Knew Too Much (Meg Langslow, #8) by Donna Andrews 8th in series, 4 star, also non-para. Currently reading Bad Blood (Virgil Flowers, #4) by John Sandford non-para. His Lucas Davenport is one of my all-time favorite detectives, but Sandford's Virgil Flowers is pretty good too.

Next up: Me and My Shadow A Novel of the Silver Dragons by Katie MacAlister
