Thanks for explaining this to me. Norah Lofts books are also like that as they have one book for UK and another for the US. I don't understand it at all and just wish they would keep the same title.

Sorry, hope I can keep this in mind as I have done similar before especially with Norah Lofts.

Angela (bookangel2) | 163 comments At the moment, I'm reading In Cold Blood by Truman Capote - really compelling - and also re-reading The Spy Who Came in from the Cold by John le Carré .

I am reading Snowdrops by A.D. Miller

message 261: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 163 comments I've finished both In Cold Blood: A True Account of a Multiple Murder and Its Consequences and The Spy Who Came in from the Cold. I thought The Spy Who Came in from the Cold was a very grim little book - the Cold War at its coldest, possibly. In Cold Blood: A True Account of a Multiple Murder and Its Consequences was exceptional - the chilling true story was written with such skill by Truman Capote; I couldn't put it down!
I'm now reading Hallowe'en Party - enjoyably quaint! Also reading Brethren: An Epic Adventure of the Knights Templar, a meaty historical read.

Just started reading The 39 Steps by John Buchan :) Not sure if it`s my kind of book, but always like to try something new as they always surprise you ....

Flora Smith (bookwormflo) I've recently finished The Witching Hour which I really enjoyed. And I've moved on to The Last Werewolf which to me is feeling a little dry. I hope it improves.

I wouldn't start

The Witching Hour unless you have plenty of time on your hands. I thought I would never finish it. I thought it was worth the effort tho

Lindsey (booksdingle) | 186 comments I've just finished reading 'People Who Eat Darkness' which was about the fate of Lucie Blackman, the British hostess who was murdered in Japan in 2000 - it was pretty harrowing in also but interesting to read about the hostessing industry and maybe change some of the views I had about it. I am also half way through Stolen by Lesley Pearse - not loving it as such but its starting to roll along quite nicely now

Hounded This one starts out well and is most amusing but I am losing interest. Part of the problem is too many different words in Gaelic? He does have a nice dictionary at the beginning.

JackieB | 123 comments I'm warking my way through The Way We Live Now. I'm really enjoying it, but it's going to be another 5-7 days before I finish it. It's 767 pages of rather small print. I nearly didn't even attempt it, but I'm glad I did.

message 291: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 163 comments Still reading Moloka'i - making heavy weather of it for some reason! Also started The Thread, which is on limited borrowing time from the library and The Death Zone Climbing Everest Through the Killer Storm by Matt Dickinson , for a genre challenge.

message 292: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey (booksdingle) | 186 comments how do you get pics of the book into your posts?

message 293: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 163 comments Booksdingle wrote: "how do you get pics of the book into your posts?"

When you click on "add book/author" just above the posting box and type in the name of the book, if you scroll to the bottom of the list of books, there's an option which you can click on to show the cover, rather than the title. Hope that makes sense!:)

message 294: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 163 comments Finished The Death Zone: Climbing Everest Through the Killer Storm - very good read. Still reading the other two that I mentioned in my last post - nearly finished The Thread, which I'm enjoying. I've also started something completely different - Miller's Collecting the 1950s by Madeleine Marsh - very interesting and reminds me of my childhood!! Next one will be The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells for a book group read.
