Becky (fibrobabe) | 1052 comments This is going to be a tough one. I see three books I'm very interested in reading on the list already. And I don't own a one of 'em.

I'll either nominate or second that one.

(That was confusing. If it has been nominated, I second it. Otherwise, I nominate it.)

I put it on the list as a nomination.

ns (vedi) I've always gotten to these too late to suggest anything, and quite frankly, I'll go along with whatever you all pick. It's just that so far, they've all been books I really wouldn't have finished if it wasn't for the sake of the discussion, or I couldn't finish.

So the July candidates are really looking good to me -- as I've read most of them, loved most of them and wouldn't mind discussing most of them.

If I have a slight preference for which to discuss, I suppose it's Harper Fox's Last Line. I'm "thirding" that one, if it's needed. Still a bit confused about how this works.

I do recommend Hemovore and Wicked Gentlemen as well (as books to read, even if you don't pick them for the discussion), though (as those of you who read my posts on them probably might surmise :)).

Haven't read Khyber Run or White Rajah.

Last Line is a good one to discuss, I have lots of feelings about it. I have also read all of the books except White Raja.

message 262: by ns (new)

ns (vedi) FWIW, here was my wishlist to discuss:

Last Line (Fox)
Wicked Gentlemen (Hale)
Turnskin (Kimberling)
Hemovore (JCP)
Mind F*&% (Francis)
Whistling in the Dark (Allen)
Prisoner/Bound? (Derr)
Cranberry Hush (Monopoli)
Regularly Scheduled Life (Mitchell) (Not Yet Read)
Adrien English (Just Kidding)

message 263: by Lissa (new)

Lissa (parisbvamp) Hemovore was amazing. I'd recommend that. I've only reread it like four times. It could use another reread.

The Cranberry Hush: A Novel (Calathea) (seconds: Charming, Pt)

Do you want to second it?
It needs two seconds to make it to the poll...

I love all the books that are nominated here. I am going to have a very hard time deciding to vote later.

Cleon, go with Hemovore. You know you want to!

message 269: by Susan65 (new)

Susan65 I am very new to this group (within minutes actually) so forgive me if I goof up.
I would nominate A Regularly Scheduled Life as well since that is one of my absolute all time favorites and I can read it again and again. I have even discussed it with my fellow book readers who are "scared" of the m/m genre. I will eventually convert them :-)

message 273: by Antonella (new)

Antonella | 11549 comments All the nominated books would be ok for me, apart from ''The White Rajah'': I'm not much into historical and, especially, I've read Erastes' review. I haven't read two of the books, but it would be a good excuse to buy and read them ;-).

Ciao

Calathea wrote: "Although I only yesterday bought Last Line to catch up with the July read ... Do we have an August read? "

Jeez, no. Thanks for the reminder. Maybe I can pull myself together for August.

Anyone have any nominations burning a hole in their pocket? Was there some title we'd mentioned when we talked about nominations a while back? I feel like there was something...?

Any interest in reading this new one by Heidi Cullinan about the ballet dancer? I haven't read any of her work, so I'm mildly curious, and I just finished a ballet dancer story myself so...?

Emanuela ~plastic duck~ (manutwo) | 1768 comments I like Heidi Cullinan, she packs a punch :)

Jordan Lombard (jslombard) | 15333 comments Mod
I've never read Heidi Cullinan, but seeing as I'm broke, and can't buy anything for awhile, I'm going to nominate Hemovore by Jordan Price again, just because with all of my books packed, it's the one M/M I haven't read that I can find easily at the moment.

message 279: by Yvonne (last edited Aug 01, 2011 07:36AM) (new)

Yvonne (ysareader) I would be interested to read the Heidi Cullinan book as I love reading about the dance world & I've never read one of her stories. But I just like to wait until a book is available at other outlets before getting it. (Which is why I just got Last Line yesterday)

Josh, now you have me really curious about this ballet dancer story that you're writing. Is it going to be a mystery & a contemporary story?

message 280: by Susan (last edited Aug 01, 2011 07:37AM) (new)

Susan | 807 comments I started reading Dance With Me yesterday on Kari's rec. It's interesting so far, and I've liked other Heidi C. books in the past, so it would get a *yes* from me.

No mystery and no crime in this one. Just a very sweet, hopefully poignant holiday romance. I think it's poignant. I got choked up wriitng it, but that could be mental exhaustion. ;-D

I have it on my list and Feliz rated it 5 stars. I haven't read anything by Heidi Cullinan, so I'm in for it. :-)

Awww! Josh, that's a great note to readers right there. If you got choked up reading it, I have to read it when it comes out. I love it when that happens. Then you know you've done a good job, especially when you can make yourself cry. I can't wait!

message 284: by Susan65 (new)

Susan65 I just finished reading Dance with Me and absolutely LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John (arkbear) | 322 comments Calathea wrote: "Do we have an August read? "

Golly, we had such a great crop of choices for July, we could almost graft that list into the August poll....

Okay, I did say we'd handle the Book of the Month read differently, so why don't we try this idea for August: why don't we read both books?

Dance With Me by Heidi Cullinan

AND

Hemovore by Jordan Castillo Price

We have the option of reading one or both (or neither, but that's disappointing!).

I know that may seem overambitious given that my participation has been lameass for the last couple of months, but I'm game for it.

I'm good with that. Almost finished Dance with Me and still really enjoying it. Read Hemovore before. It was great too.

Great, Susan! Well, I've made the poll so we can vote for one or both books. I voted for both.

message 294: by Blaine (new)

message 295: by Susan (last edited Aug 02, 2011 11:43AM) (new)

Susan | 807 comments Just finished Dance with Me. So good. A few tears in the last chapter.

message 296: by Blaine (new)

Blaine (blainedarden) Oh ... I replied before refreshing my screen ...

I like that idea, Josh.
I'm definitely going to give it a go ... err ... if my schedule allows for it, that is.

That sounds like a perfect idea! And I do love that title "dance with me"... doubt I'll be able to get a copy, but I'll definitely add it to my to-read list.

*sigh* this is what going to a writer's conference and buying bookcases gets me. lol. Oh yeah, and I need new glasses so I can see the world too.

One thing I'd sort of forgotten until I was dealing with LI's deeeelihtful interface yesterday ;-P was that Heidi's book is only currently available through Loose Id.

Hopefully that won't be a deterrent for anyone. The book does look like fun.
