OK! I'll wait until tomorrow (Monday) evening to see if we have any other responses. I see some enthusiasm for KJ Charles and Cat Sebastian. :)
I've read and really enjoyed almost all of Cat Sebastian's books, except I ran out of steam reading the first book in her highwaymen series and put it aside for another time. I see there's a second book out in that series now.
The Queer Principles of Kit Webb
The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes

I'm fine with any of them, honestly.

I second Sam's suggestion, and perhaps put the KJ Charles book up for May?

I like the way you two are thinking. I've been saving the KJ Charles book and can hold out another month. :)
Maybe we can even read Lament at Loon Landing, then add (read/re-read) Death at the Deep Dive to this month's discussion? I'll post a decision tonight.

If we do them both, can we have separate discussions? I want to read Death at the Deep Dive for Scavenger Hunt, it doesn't work for this month, I'm not sure it will fit into next month's categories, and I don't want to come across any spoilers.

Good idea. I'll set up the discussion pages later tonight. I ran into a tango project I needed to work on last night and today and I'm running behind in everything!

I like this idea. :) I'm at the 2/3 through point with the ebook, but I just bought the audiobook and would be happy to reread/listen.
Anyone else?

It is good, if you don't mind swearing ;-). I don't know where it is going, but it could be another idea for an August BOM.
* So I bought it 10 years after it was published and I'm reading it 10 years after I bought it. No wonder I forgot that I had it... I still have to tackle The Brothers Bishop.

Then this could be a good occasion to finally read it ;-).

So just to be clear are we nominating Leave Myself Behind (which I recently bought on sale) or The Brothers Bishop or both... along with We Could Be So Good... :) ???

LOL! I meant to nominate We Could Be So Good, but then I thought of Leave Myself Behind.
You are the one mentioning The Brothers Bishop, which would be alright for me as well though ;-).
A short and quick poll for our August 2023 BOM is available
here
I'll leave it up over this weekend and post results on August 1st.
The nominees/suggestions are:
We Could Be So Good by K.J. Charles
Leave Myself Behind by Bart Yates

Candidates for an October BOM? September is slipping by... and I'll be "abroad" 9/23-10/9. Would like to set this up early. Any reading suggestions for with Fall/Halloween/Spooky vibe? :)

Terror by Moonlight by Hank Edwards maybe? I know nothing about it except that it seems sufficiently spooky, and it's been on my TBR for a while.
It's not available on KU, however, or in my Libby library.

Thanks! I'll add this to a list of possibles. I read the first 3 books in this series way back in 2018, but would be happy to reread to see whether/how my tastes may have changed. :)
We'll be departing on Saturday (Armenia/Paris) and returning 10/9, but should have access to internet to set up a poll, etc.

Armenia/Paris? That's a very interesting combo!

It's been a very interesting trip. I'll describe a bit more of it after we return. We leave for the airport in an hour and a half. I'm enjoying my last Parisian croissant/baguette breakfast sitting in our friend's apartment with a very clear/close view of the Eiffel Tower from the windows. :)

Dropped the ball on October, but would like to take nominations/suggestions now for a November group BOM read. Please respond to this thread by Monday (10/23) and I'll put a poll together. Enough time?
Meanwhile, I have a suggestion for a fun way for us to read some Halloween/spooky stories this month.
RJ Scott and ~30 other authors are participating in "Twist in the Tale," described as a "short story event in which 31 authors share tales with a twist, tales inspired by Halloween, or some spooktacularly cool stories." The stories are listed on RJ's website (just 12 are up as of today) and are free via links to bookfunnel, bookhip, or the author's website.
I'll create a chat page where we may choose to comment on any of the stories we choose to read. It will be a bit different from our usual BOM discussions, as we won't necessarily be reading the same stories, so should probably avoid spoilers or use spoiler coding, but we will be able to share reading suggestions with each other.
A few of the authors participating so far are BA Tortuga, JL Merrow, Rhys Lawless, Suki Fleet, V.L. Locey.

Great idea Karen! I have been trying to find time to read the stories and I'm afraid I'll end up trying for it on the last day or two. This gives me some incentive. There should be some good stories there with some great authors participating.

For BOM suggestion, if this group hasn't already read it, SE Harmon's P.S. I Spook You might be a good one.
"SSA Rain Christiansen used to be the agency’s golden boy. It just takes one moment of weakness, one slight, tiny, itty-bitty paranormal sighting, and all of a sudden he’s the agency’s embarrassment. His boss gives him one last chance to redeem himself—go down to Brickell Bay, play nice with the local police, and leave the ghost sightings behind. Rain is determined to do exactly that, even if it kills him."
So far there are 4 books in the series, but I read it awhile ago, so I'm okay with a re-read. I see it for check out in the Libby/Library app in Audio and eBook, and it is also on Kindle Unlimited.

Josh usually picks the December BOM, so check in with her first, unless she's not doing that this year.
Also, I just realized that all of my information is still on the first post of this thread. Check with Josh about updating that first message post as well.

Josh picked Mystery in White by J. Jefferson Farjeon for our December 2023 BOM. It's for sale for .99 on Amazon right now. And you may add the audiobook for under $4...

Any reading suggestions for a Book of the Month shared reading/chat for this month and/or February?
This month (January) is open to any/all suggestions.
February should be one of our Josh group re-reads. Which Josh book is calling you? :)

I'll second that (and would enjoy it) and also suggest we consider starting a Holmes & Moriarity series re-read (The 12.2 Per-Cent Solution is coming "the end of March-ish") or a series read/reread of the Bedknobs and Broomsticks books (Hex in the City is scheduled for May). Thoughts? I'll create a poll if there's more interest expressed in our group rereading of any of the three. Otherwise (based on two votes) we'll go with Fair Game this month. :)

Interesting. A possibility for March (since January's past)?

Honestly, if 12% solution is coming out soon, I’d be down for a series reread of H&M! That said, I also would reread Fair Game. lol. If we reread a series though, would it be one book a month? How would we do it?
Apologies for dropping the ball. I seem to have too many projects and we're leaving for our 10-day Italy trip on Sunday (and I feel woefully unprepared).
So I'm going with a (very junior) executive decision here and setting up a re-read of the Holmes & Moriarity series now —thinking we'll come back to All's Fair later this year.
Just in case readers here haven't read some/all of the books in the series, I'm setting up each book individually.
Jordan, I tend to read very quickly (as a retired person with a part-time grandson daycare position and too many projects), so I'll probably finish a book (or more) a week. :)
Everyone else, please join in at your own pace! So looking forward to the new one.

Will definitely join in at my own pace. 😆 I’ve got a pile of nonfiction I’m hoping to finish before I start Somebody Killed his Editor.
I saw The 12.2% Solution listed as coming out at the end of May, which was why I thought one per month would be good. I just saw you said at the end of March, so I’m assuming the May date was a Josh plan just in case an earlier date didn’t work out?

I got the dates from a (Patreon?) post towards the end of January: "... we've got The 12.2 Per-Cent Solution for end of March-ish. Than Hex in the City for May." I guess I better check with Josh. :)
