Whew...thank GOD for a Christian group! I just wanted to hear about your personal experience with God. Something encouraging, personal and uplifting. It helps those just exploring God and those that have been Christians for a long time.

I'll start. Last year, when I was fasting for 5 days for a closer relationship with God, on the 3rd night, I received a special gift from God. His spirit came over me so undeniably that I knew it was Him immediately. But I was so scared that it might NOT be of Him (human minds that we have...doubt, doubt, doubt), I asked God, "Jesus, if that were you, would you do that again??" Immediately, it came over me again.

I knew for sure then, and several times since then, when I've prayed for others or myself, it comes back to comfort me and tell me that He hears me. Then, my son (being bi-racial) was attacked by 8 men and they were beating and strangling him...suddenly, he said, "Mom, they just got up and ran off!" We know from experience, that usually in hate crimes, they don't stop til the person is either dead or paralyzed.

That night I said, "God, I just want you to know how grateful I am that my son wasn't killed! If you know how grateful I am, please let me know somehow." The spirit of God came over my body, my head and shoulders, specifically like a silken mantle, and i couldn't move, and I thought, "what is this?" but I wasn't afraid. Then 3 letters appeared in front of my eyes...Y E S!

Imagine how I felt! I was overwhelmed with gratefulness, and this is when I knew that God doesn't mind us asking Him for answers! He will answer us, if we just ask and believe that He will do it!

Mickey (michaela143) | 12 comments This year in January my grandmother passed away at 97 years old i went into a depressed stage and then i heard the voice of the Lord saying that she lived a full life and that she wasn't suffering no more and that inspired me to pick the pen up and start writing poetry again and i got my life back when i started writing poetry it wasn't me anymore it was the God in me

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Ohhh that's really a great testimony. To hear the word of the Lord telling you that she lived a full life. I know you loved your grandmother very much, and that was probably a great comfort to you. I'm so glad you found your poetry and also that you are giving God the credit!! God bless you!!

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes! That is the basic truth of it; not to forget or lose sight that your grandmother lived her full life; and now it is your turn to do the same. God gave you a wonderful insight there. That's truly a blessing!

Tonya | 5 comments Hi, my name is Tonya and I'm new to the group. My story is full of many years of drug addiction, depression and just plain indescribable misery. Well God introduced himself to me and changed my life forever. However, even after I gave my life to Christ, I struggled as I felt alone in my stuggles. In my mind, not many people were willing to talk about any of that in the detail that I needed. So I'm grateful for communities such as this as I believe many do a disservice by not sharing the "real - honest" good news.. If you like you can read my story in full at:

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey Tonya, welcome. I am always inspired by life stories and people being changed by God's love. It's encouraging. My sister was addicted to crack, dancing in clubs, drinking, getting high...one night on her way home, drunk and driving, she passed out behind the wheel. She was laying on her side on the car seat when she looked up at the steering wheel. Through a drunken haze she saw huge white hands steering the car. She passed out and woke up the next morning. The car had been pulled gently off the road and parked. She knew that an angel of God had taken over for her.

Shannon Hi guys :)
My awesome experience was at a youth camp about 1/2 months ago. It was a Saturday night and the pastor was preaching. Then all of a sudden he started getting touched by the Holy Spirit and he could barely stand up. he kept laughing and stopped preaching. He walked around the room touching teenagers and youth leaders saying "FIRE" then he touched me and I started shaking and I got oil all over my hands and I felt really, really hot!!!! My hair was down so it was shaking all over the place and I could barely stand up!!!! One of my friends started laughing this REALLY high pitched laugh and started shaking as well. If you looked around the room you would have seen TONS of teenagers and youth leaders around the room slumped into seats or on the floor laughing and shaking :) IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! :D Then the youth pastor said "If any of you feel that your hands are really hot etc then please come up to the front of the room where I am". My hands felt really hot and they were covered in oil so I went up :) My friend went up as well :) We were both just standing there, we were the only ones up there and....my pastor went to my friend, took both of her hands in his and said "I can see you using these hands to cast out sicknesses and diseases and witnessing miracles" and he started praying those over her and she started shaking and laughing really high pitched!!! :D Then the pastor came up to me. My hands were out as a sign that I was ready for God to come and touch me and my right hand was shaking. I felt like I was standing right underneath a heater because I felt really hot. My hands were covered in oil and i felt completely at peace and relaxed :) Then he took both of my hands in his and said "WOAH! Shannon, it's all over you!!!" (meaning that God was touching me immensely). Then he said "Shannon, I can see you using those hands to cast out demons and evil spirits from people's bodies, you will witness many miracles" and I was like, woah, that's awesome :) Then he started praying over me and my head started shaking, my hair went everywhere it was flying over my face. It must have looked like a huge mop that someone was shaking so that the hairs flew all around my face. I felt really relaxed and happy and loved :) The oil was still on my hands and I still felt hot all over. Then the youth pastor asked some of my friends and I to stand in a straight line and hold hands. We did just that. Then he touched my friend who went up with me and said "FIRE!" then it was like the Holy Spirit spread from her to the rest of us through our hands. Some of them started shaking, some laughing and some of them even fell over!!! I started shaking again and I felt oil again on my hands I couldn't stand up straight!!! Whenever I tried to stand up I just got more power from the Holy Spirit touching me and I bent my knees again!!! It was AWESOME!! I will NEVER forget that experience :) I would love to experience it again :)

That's AWESOME!!! :D It must have been so cool to watch!!! :) Imagine what people must have thought seeing someone passed out in a seat with no one moving the car but it moving itself!!! I would have loved to see that!!! :)

Jaye I met God for the first time four years ago. It was a very powerful and emotional spiritual experience that cleansed me of a smoking addiction immediately, eventually of a drinking habit and generally put me on the Right Path :)

Christina | 91 comments Last night during youthgroup, we shared stories of the greatness of His glory by sharing our testimonies (or simply parts of them)... I was so inspired and I hope if you have something to share with the group or anyone around you, I encourage you to pray about it and then go for it :) sometimes it's not what you say, but what you don't say... don't miss an opportunity to share His love with somebody. <3 Have a blessed day, friends!

Joy Ok, I need some help. There are these guys in my gym class that I REALLY don't like. We are playing doubles for the tennis unit, and my partner and I are paired with them. They roll their eyes everytime we hit the ball. They curse a lot despite our repeated pleas for them to stop. They remind us 30 times a day to "Hit the ball OVER the net." And finally, they start playing against each other until they get annoyed by our asking them to play doubles like we're supposed to. I want to tell them to quit being so rude and stupid and do they know how stupid they look as they are trying to seem cool? But I don't want to be mean and nonchristian about it. I am trying to let God shine through me and make me a better person, but how can I be a good Christian and still tell them to stop being rude and disregarding our morals?

Joy, of course pray for the jerks. LOL No, seriously pray for them. It sounds as if they need it. Being Christian doesn't mean being soft. There were many times Jesus was pretty stern. I think you're doing pretty well with the situation, considering these guys may have closed ears. Remain dignfied. Don't let them get to you. Perhaps you can speak to the gym teacher.

Dibily Do | 214 comments So is this group dead? I never see it in my recent activity section.

Besides that question, my personal experience with God has been great with some roadblocks that I can look back to and realize that God was/will with me. Sometimes when I was looking for answers they were right in the bible and some came in time, but over all I'm glad that I am a Jesusfreak.

Maybe we need a few book related topics. This is Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ after all. Not self promotional stuff, but discussions about books that moved us.

I'll put one up.

Right now, I'm approaching God through who was the man Jesus? I cam upon a line written by Martin Luther that if a believer followed the life of Jesus (in his manhood), it would be impossible not to find that He was God. That intrigued me and I've been doing that. It's been awesome so far.

That's an interesting and great way of going about your walk with God. It's amazing to me to think about a person who could be sinless in this world or the world back then.

I read a devotional that said to put yourself as an ordinary person living in Israel and follow Jesus around. Don't even try to be one of those who knew he was the Christ. Just be an ordinary person who hears there's this guy everyone is talking about. Go and see what it's all about. Strip away everything we've been tuaght and learn it anew.

That's what I'm trying to do.

I was going to make an electronic file and paste maps and other graphics onto it.

Then I realized I wanted to learn how to set up a WordPress blog to see if that's what I wanted for my professional blog. So I thought why not put this new bible study on a WordPress blog. I can learn how to navigate WordPress and share with others who might be interested in this type of Bible study.

The blog is called Eyes of Aphara. I'm imagining a 13 year old orphan girl who marries a young Hebrew merchant who has what we call today dyslexia. So, he brings her along on his trips. On this trip they are returning homw and are following another caravaan, that of the Three Kings who are going to Bethlehem. This young woman will have occassion because of her mobility to witness many parts of the life of Jesus.

Here is a link.

I'm a little on the mystical side. Evangelical mystical. By that I mean I often spend a bit of time pondering who God is in my heart before I pray. I'll get very quiet and just sit there with the Father, or the Son, or the Holy Spirit. Or all three. Then maybe I'll read Scripture or pray with words.
