Sofia The Great If you have read all of the Mercy books, I gather then you are a true fan. You just don't pick up book 6 and start from there. I even pre-order this book and was just disappointed. Its was kinda boring and I felt I was reading about someones vacation. Did anyone else feel the same way? I'm not gonna give up on the series but just let down on this one.

Carmon Yeah it was a bit boring, I prefer reading about the pack, the fey and the vamps so reading about all the native american magic was kinda boring for me. It was still a good read but not as good as the other books in the series.

tlmfarmgirl I read a lot of books about Native tribes and Cultures so I kinda liked this one - nice to see Mercey and Adam happy for a change. Missed Sam and the rest of the gang though....

Johnna I thought it was good. Different, but good. i mean it was their honeymoon so they had to be off somewhere alone.

tlmfarmgirl the cover is also my favorite one yet... :)

AlbertaJenn I loved it. Reading about Mercy's background was fascinating, and it was nice to see Mercy and Adam get some well-deserved alone time.

Lisa I still enjoyed it. It was very different to the other books, but in a good way for me. I really enjoyed meeting a different kind of supernatural creature and getting insight into Mercy's background.

Elayne Didn't care for this book very much, I much prefer it when the pack is involved.

Shaineinok i really enjoyed it. It was nice to have some background on Mercy and for her and Adam to have some alone time.

Victoria I liked it because it explained her family situation into more detail. I just wish the next book will do something about her life line so she will live as long as Adam does.

Lolita I liked all of the details about Mercy's background and it was nice seeeing her and Adam together. But I wish it had been longer with an additional storyline. It just wasn't as action packed as the others.

Pamela I found this book to be very different from the first five. I really didn't enjoy it all that much. I loved that Mercy and Adam got married but didn't find the mystery to be so thrilling - more boring to be honest. I also missed all the other characters that make it a great book.

William Dunham IMO, this book was packed with strong doses of romance. The story was good. definately a bit slower. After finishing I thought, this is not a book geared toward Mercy fans, this is a book that is suppose to broaden her audience. Over all I enjoyed the book. It was great to see her and Adam enjoy themselves a bit but too much mushy stuff.

Melissa johnson i love the mt series i did like this book but it was on the boring side do you all have any idea on books like this series

Pamela Melissa,

Here are a few suggestions for books you might want to read. I've listed the first book in the series for you to try:

Richelle Mead's "Succubus Blues";
Diana Rowland's "Mark of the Demon";
Dianne Sylvan's "Queen of Shadows";
Darynda Jones' "First Grave on the Right"; and
Stacia Kane's "Unholy Ghosts".

This should keep you busy for a while. :)

Dawn It was just ok IMO I thought it should have been a novella.

Fernanda Bomtempo-Marzo I really enjoyed it.... It was nice to see Adam and Mercy together. I liked that we got a better view of their relantionship.

K E-R i enjoyed it too..i like the native american history/culture...my dad grew up on a rez..."the blue-eyed indian"...and my mom's folks worked with the hopi...i have worked with the oglala and lakota...getting some of mercy's "backstory" was a treat for me...some of the book was light considering the previous books...but after the rape and all i think it was needed

Destructo The Mad I wasn't disappointed in this book at all. It went in a different direction from the previous 5, but really, if the series is going to continue without just rehashing itself, it needs to change, and the stories need to evolve.

Ricotn This was one of my favorites. The Native American history was a real treat.

message 21: by Johnna (new) - added it

Johnna I agree, Destructo.

Michielle One of my faves also.

E.rai I really enjoyed this installment. The introduction of the Native lore was refreshing & I even enjoyed the laid back pacing. For me it set the right pitch for where the story went. This series has yet to disapoint me as so many UF series do. Briggs doesn't mind taking chances & that keeps me coming back.

Fangs for the Fantasy I found it a huge climb down. Not much plot or metaplot, not a lot of world building and Hauptman's controlling/possessive behaviour has reached new levels of Do Not Want.

I definitely thought that it wasn't all it could have been. There was little passion between the characters as had been displayed or hinted at over the course of the series and the events were moderately interesting. Hopefully, the next book picks up the slack this one left.

Brandon Ax I was let down, I wanted to read about the pack or some more vamp stuff, but I guess we can all have a dud every now and then Anna and Charles is where it's at anyway.

Ebony380900 yes i read all 6 books and by far book 6 was such a let down i feel she could of moved the story along so much more

Jennifer K Jovus River Marked was a different tone than previous Mercy books, but I think it was necessary. Mercy and Adam have to establish their own relationship before heading back into pack life. If they didn't they wouldn't be able to survive as a couple in such a diverse dynamic. The seconed reason I felt the story had to be different is because Mercy is moving onto a new aspect of her life. She is a wife and what comes next? Motherhood. I believe we will learn more about Mercy's family history so that she can move forward with this next step of her life.

Truthfully, I really missed the gang too but think we are being set up for a truly good book to come.

Ally I didn't care for the slow pace of the story, but overall I enjoyed it. I especially liked learning about Mercy's history.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* Glad to see I wasn't the only one who found it a bit boring. Just seemed to lack a lot for me compared to the others.

River Mark was not one of my favorite Mercy books either.. but I'll stick with her

Tangled Speculation I thought it was okay, but not my favorite Mercy book. I liked the Native lore but I don't care for quite that much romance. I suppose I have to deal with a lot of alone time on a honeymoon. I'm sure we'll get back to the whole crazy lot in the next book.

Karyn I still liked it, but I thought that it felt like the writing was rushed. That's why I'm sorta happy she changed her publication schedules - I'd really rather have a book where everything is thought through fully. Especially a book which introduces us to a whole new set of characters and situation. I never felt like we got to know the people in this book, they were just devices to keep the plot moving.

Susanne I did not find it a let down at all. I like all of Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson books. =)

Annie The middle was a bit boring, but the beginning was great and the end was awesome!!!!!!!!

Estelle (E) I agree, I'm a huge fan of Mercy but the last one was a letdown. I missed Stefan!!
Hopefully, they'll be back on track with the next one..

Susanne Actually, I was not let down at all. I like all of the Mercy Thompson books. Adam & Mercy have been simmering for a long time. They needed to get some alone time...Don't all honeymooners get to have that? And, we got some background on Mercy's Father as a bonus. I do hope to hear more of Sam's story; and perhaps some more background on Bran, too--Charles gets his story told in the Alpha & Omega Series.

Stephanie Bolen This book is why Patricia Briggs is no longer in my top ten. When a new mythology or bad guy is introduced the author either handles it smoothly or bobbles the ball. The book is to expressly introduce the Native American Skinwalker mythology to the fae, werewolf, and vampire mythology she already introduced from the first. She could have introduced a new character and made it a gradual reveal. Instead it's an add on, almost as annoying as a mortal enemy and eternal war that is revealed in book eleven like Katie MacAllister.

Lisa Nance I agree, it was slow. I miss the Pack also. I don't know if it is in the works but I would love a book about Bran!! I also adore Charles and Anna's books.

Kathleen My only complaint is that I wanted to see more of Sam and Ariana, finally happy. Apart from that, I liked River Marked. It was the first time Adam lost control of his inner wolf, cuz he was so afraid Mercy had been killed. I liked seeing how that played out. I also enjoyed the Coyote father figure, and was glad he came to visit Mercy at the end. I enjoyed the setting and actually did a google search on the river monster, finding photos of the actual pictographs. My favorite in the series is Silver Borne, but this is a 4-star read, or 3.5.

Nadya Tammy wrote: "I read a lot of books about Native tribes and Cultures so I kinda liked this one - nice to see Mercey and Adam happy for a change. Missed Sam and the rest of the gang though...."

i agree. at the same time it was good just seeing them work together without the whole lot of them too :)

Nadya i think its fair to have native american mythology in this one, the others didn't really have any to them, just the fae, werewolves and vampires

Susanne Lisa wrote: "I agree, it was slow. I miss the Pack also. I don't know if it is in the works but I would love a book about Bran!! I also adore Charles and Anna's books."

I would also like to see Ben's story. He is a snark. He can be a giant jerk. But, In Iron Kissed, he shows he has a heart, too. Also, in River Marked, at Mercy's wedding, he shows a flash of vulnerability when Mercy chides him about her sisters.
