Looked it up and it appears to be roughly the same as caffeine, so yes.

It's the same but for tea ;) In Spain we use both words in a normal way, according to the drink.

Learned something new. Had never heard of "theine" until you mentioned it and I had to look it up. I normally wouldn't consider cafffeine (or theine) drugs, but what I read about Sherlock Holmes (on wikipedia) was that he used the 7% solution of cocaine, and ocassionally morphine as a stimulant. Dr. Watson frowned on it. So to broaden our category I included both drugs or stimulants. So you could read a book with a drug bust in it, or to get more cozy there are tea or coffee themed mystery series.

One question - will Agatha Christie count for #6? Here bio here on ŷ lists her as Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
Another question: Can the helper be a dog? I'm thinking about Judy McCoy's series about a dogwalker.
I'll stetch it and let the helper be a dog or a cat as in some of those, the animal helper can get quite involved in the storylines. Go for it. :)

Dame is the female equivelant to Sir, and both mean they are knighted, having received their OBE so yes, she counts. :)

Can, but usually they are more serious thrillers. That's why I added the more normal stimulants as well.
