Hollie I think The Raw Shark Texts would make an epic film but I'd be worried it wouldn't be made well and end up a bit like the dodgy film version of The Time Travellers Wife. While I mention it, I'd like a decent remake of that please.

I wonder if an animated version of The Raw Shark Texts would be the way to go so it wouldn't be restricted by what actors could do or not having a sky high special effect budget.

I think it would have to be animated to get some of the effects, I'd like to see that if they did.

'The book of lost things' would make a beautiful film I think.

Hollie I've not heard of that. What's it about, why do you think it would make a good film?

Divine By Mistake - P.C Cast.

It is just a brilliant fantasy novel, not really YA as a bit of steamy sex (with a HOT centaur)!
The book is witty and I've read it so often, even had to celotape the cover as it has been read so often.

Would make an awesome film.

It's about a young boy who falls into a world of fairytales, but not fairytales as we know them. Some of them are very funny - the 7 Marxist dwarves who hate Snow White. Some are the much darker original versions of our modern day fairy tales. I loved it, one of those that you never want to end but can't stop reading.

Forgot to say - the reason it would make a good film is because of the fairytale/fantasy element. I would imagine somewhere between Stardust and Pans Labyrinth. I know that sounds like a weird mix but it has the darkness and the humour of both

Hollie I think that sounds like a good mix actually. I loved the style of Pans Labyrinth and that it was a darker sort of fairy tale. Stardust is excellent too, again it's another one I would like to see a remake of where it goes with the book rather than Holywood-ized. The film is very good though and I very much enjoyed it and I liked that they managed to make it look quite old and not too sparkly and shiny.

Haha! Well the centaur is actually the Shaman of his clan so has shape shifting powers so becomes human for the deed. =P It is a good book, I fell in love with the centaur character, manly man and all

Hollie Well there you very go then. How to get around creeping folk out with illegal deeds... shape shifting obviously. lol.

I got the The Book of Lost Things to read on holiday last year but being 7 months pregnant, looking after a toddler who was difficult to keep out of trouble (stuck inside for half the holiday while it rained - lack of toys and kids books) and getting sicker by the day meant I couldn't get in to it. I did start to read it again recently - I remember looking for ages for books to read on holiday that wouldn't be beach reads but would interest me.

Read If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things - which I'd love to see a film of - and The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Nighttime.

The thing is that the books that are beautifully written are descriptive. You would have to watch the film in slow mo' with constant narration to let you inside the main characters head to be able to experience anywhere near the same.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new Jane Eyre - for once a film adaptation of one of my favourite books has good reviews :) :)

Becky McWilliams Guinness (billiesue) Wicked. It's one of my favourite books and the musical is fab. Either an adaptation of the musical or the book would be so good on screen!
