One I've never heard of is "The Tale of the Genji" you'll have to let us know what you think of it. Live many I love Jane Austen!

so far it is quite delightful, in the pages i have read so far it is the telling of a boy's conquest into manhood by the pursuit of love and romance. i look forward to more plots and themes though, it's quite a long book. and i will definitely have to let you know what i thought of it.

so far ..."

and i finished reading The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde...i was completely surprised that such a book could ever be written by oscar wilde. i read he wrote it for his children to read to them at night, which, if you read the stories, would make a great deal of sense. it has a lot of morals embedded into each story, which is ideal for a children's book.

There are some on your shelf I have but have not yet read, but a few books on your list that I liked include: The Scarlet Letter, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Romeo and Juliet and The French Lieutenant's Woman.

i just finished Emma. not my particular favorite, but, compared to northanger abbey (which i found to be a total disappointment) it isn't half bad. i was only bothered that it took so long to finalize everything, such a drag to build up such suspension which the end promised to be. the ending was quite nice, but the beginning! not so great. too long without much of anything happening, in my opinion. and miss bates, such an annoying character! she was my least favorite throughout the whole book and detesting any particular pages in which she was bound to be in.
i am currently reading The Castles of Athlin and Dunbayne: A Highland Story and so far so good. starting out strong as to encompass the reader and invite them to read on is always a good way to start a book lol ann radcliffe has always been a great favorite since reading The Mysteries of Udolpho. i'm also reading a book that jane austen's nephews wrote about her, they included her letters in them, which i'm excited to read. :]
what is your favorite read of jane austen's?
