I have just ordered
from Amazon after finishing White is for Witching and reading some more interviews with Helen Oyeyemi last night. This is her first book, which she furtively wrote age 18 whillst studying for her A Levels.

I looked it up after reading WifW too. I read a review of WifW and it seems like it shows early characteristics of her quite unique style.
I've read that it's a bit confusing .... not unlike WifW then ;) She does have a unique style doesn't she, writing quite poetically. Not always an easy read but never boring.
I find her quite a likable writer as a person too.

Take part in the 12+3 challenge - come on, you know you want to;)
Oh and Ness - do you fancy being a discussion leader for one of the books next month?

Oh yes I'll have to have a proper look at the challenge thing. I only just manage to read our monthly books though, so I don't know if it's worth me doing one.
I don't mind being a discussion leader for The Waiting Room but I'll see if anyone else wants to be first, as I worry that I take too long to finish a book :)

Well it's a classic and written by Shirley Jackson (who was a great influence on Stephen King). This is a dark tale and I do quite like the sound of it.
Another circus book! :) Well you can't beat an old-time circus story can you? It's also written by the same author as ...
Which also sounds intriguing.
I would love to get around to reading this ... wonderful old school gothic storytelling, which I guess is a genre that I keep going back to.
I have this one already waiting for me, it's the story of a mute girl that raised herself in the wilds of French forest after being abandoned there as a small child. It explores what affect that would have on someone's development when they rejoin society after years of exclusion. I have read Camilla Way's first book The Dead of Summer and that was a fantastic read.
I love Graham Joyce's books, I've read most of them and although I've got zero interest in ski-ing, this one seems like the right mix of suspense and the supernatural. This is another that's waiting for me in that big pile.
I'll add some more books later :) ...
