Thanks for the invite.
I'm relatively new at Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ - so still finding my way.
I've recently published my debut novel, which I think will appeal to you.
‘The Devil’s Legacy is an adventure/mystery set in the present day with flashbacks to the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
‘The Devil’s Legacy combines a compelling and novel journey through time with the search for truth and the restoration of a country’s stolen heritage. Fiction is interwoven with historical fact to create a plausible, yet original and absorbing hypothesis revolving around a topical issue--and one I feel very strongly about--the return of the Parthenon Marbles to their rightful home in the New Acropolis Museum.
‘The Devil’s Legacy is available now as an ebook from Smashwords (), and from online ebook retailers including: Amazon, Apple, Barnes & Noble, Sony, Kobo, Diesel and others.
The Devil’s Legacy by Tom Jackson
ISBN: 978-1-4660-1282-0
I am pleased to provide below the link to my page at Smashwords.com where you can download and read the first 50 pages of ‘The Devil’s Legacyâ€ and my Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ book page where you can check out Book Blogs Reviews:

I hope you have the time to enjoy the read . . . and the journey through history!

White Lies, a mystery, is available in all ebook formats at Smashwords and in print at CreateSpace
Asher Blaine was an actor with significant star power before destroying his career with drugs. After years of cycling through rehab and relapse, he finally had his epiphany and chose sobriety. While carefully piecing together the ravaged scraps of his life in a quiet suburb of LA, he is arrested for murder. The victim, his ex-business manager, was shot with a re-fitted prop gun from one of his movies.
A coincidence proves his innocence, but subsequent violence casts doubts. A series of calamities raises the stakes, and he uncovers a stunning lie from his past. Asher realizes he must mend all his burnt bridges a lot sooner than he'd planned. When he turns to the people he trusted most, he discovers he must convince them not only of his sobriety, but of his innocence.

Very interesting book.
Throw together a vast underground conspiracy, a bit of mythology, a feeling like War of the Worlds, a fast pace and a dragon or two you get a book like this one.
Really enjoying it!
The vast underground conspiracy reminds me of the one in Windmills of the Gods by Sydney Sheldon. (Boy that gives my age away doesn't it?)
Though the description states that this is a YA book but I'm really enjoying it.

Finely intentioned thread to get out there. I myself am always on the lookout for more indie authors to support as well--given the sheer number out there, however, having others to point out some of the quality from the mass is always desirable, especially given the numbers one may stumble into of good ideas birthed in terrible editing. Always disappointing to encounter.
That said, my interests tend more toward the fantastic and the historical fiction, but I can recommend a few for you in those genres. If you're interested:
1. Devil's Lair, by David Wisehart is fairly unique piece within the fantasy genre, being something of a revisit of Dante's Inferno. Heavy Christian overtones? Kind of a given.
2. Theft of Swords. Michael Sullivan is pretty much at the head of the pack for indie fantasy at the moment. While I wouldn't say the characters are the most fleshed out creatures in the world, it's an entertaining read with a lot of that classic fantasy adventure feel that so energized the genre in the first place. Also a good mix of the comedic in there.
3. The Imago Chronicles, by Lorna T. Suzuki. Lorna is both good people, and a good writer. The fact that she also has a habit for long series will, if you enjoy her style, also keep some quality reading in your hands for some time. She also has hit up the younger adult market as well with her Dream Merchant series, if you prefer that end of the spectrum--and a mix of comedy-fantasy, at that. But in all cases, well-edited, and quite engaging.
But as I said, these are just my recommendations if you like fantasy (fantasy author here myself, so, it's kind of my thing). Still haven't found any truly quality historical fiction on the indie front as yet, but if I do, I'll be sure to broadcast that as well.
Hope that helps.

Also, thank you everyone for posting your work above - I intend to check them all out!
That said, I wouldn't be an indie author if I didn't take this opportunity to plug my own book as well! :-)
The first six chapters are available on my website - - for free download, and the ebook versions should be available in a week or so.
Descrip: Delilah Brachman just died and now she has six days to dodge her fate or perish for all-time. She's become an "In-Betweener," someone whose judgment has yet to be decided, and she's drawn a ticket for the Tuesday Train, the most damning ticket of all. She struggles against the demon Noc, whose cunning mind masks a childlike loneliness it will do anything to quell, and against Honest Jack, the idealist tyrant who uses torture to get his way. Meanwhile, Delilah begins to care for a man that her real life never prepared her for. Will she overcome the demons in her past, or will the life she led condemn her for all-time?
-Vlad Vaslyn

I got busy with school and haven't had a chance to check this thread for some time. I'm thrilled that you all took the time to share your recommendations.
Yes, I will be sure to start mentioning good ones I've come across. I read The Silence of Trees was quite good, available on Amazon as an e-book.
St. Sebastian's Head was also quite good, though I found the ending a little disappointing.
Thanks,
Lauren

I'd recommend

The Boots My Mother Gave Me (Women's Fiction/YA/Chick Lit) is an Amazon Breakthrough Novel Quarter Finalist. It's in Amazon's Prime offering for free downloads & lending. We're doing a free promotion tomorrow as well (July 14th).

Vigilare - Book #1 in a Thriller series with a paranormal flair. Very CSI meets Batman, so says a reviewer :)

Vigilare: Hell Hound - Book #2 in Thriller series. It's a play on Greek Mythology's Cerberus - the three-headed hellhound.

Cheers to a great thread!

As an indie author it's always good to check out the work of fellow scribes, particularly those like myself who aren't born marketeers and thus have difficulty presenting their work to the reading public. One enthusiastic and personal recommendation is always worth a dozen advertisements I've often found.
For those who haven't come across my own novel (and that's far too many readers judging by Amazon's sales reports), it's a supernatural thriller titled, Woodlife. Set in that most mysterious of England's counties, Wiltshire, it is one of those books that keeps you on tenterhooks right up to the very end. For those who might like to take a closer look, sample chapters can be read or downloaded free at:

And a little about the book.
Valerie Bain only ever plays by her own rather flexible rules. Unfortunately, when the self-styled ‘private facilitator takes on a risky yet highly lucrative assignment, she soon finds her mysterious new employers haven’t bothered to read them. Having to choose between life and death in order to collect her fee was one thing she never bargained on.
Nick Wheaton’s long football career was brought to an abrupt end by a serious head injury. The former goalkeeper now runs a moderately successful furniture manufacturing business, but the injury left him with a curious psychic ability which is at once a gift and a curse. It is only when the life of a former lover hangs in the balance that he discovers how powerful an asset it can be.
And deep in rural Wiltshire, the Edbury District Council is staging a pre-Christmas rock concert. Intended to help boost an ailing local economy, when event manager Ged Matheson does the maths nothing quite adds up. Strange townsfolk and an even stranger discovery soon have him yearning for a speedy return to the comparative normality of his London home, but fate has other ideas. Nestled at the feet of an ancient and enigmatic hill figure, Edbury appears to be the focal point for sinister forces whose tentacles reach far beyond the sleepy country backwater. When death appears to become an irrelevance, will Britain’s future be overtaken by her dim and distant past?
Thanks again for helping bring more great indie authors to our attention. Now, I'm off to check out some of those fantastic suggestions.

Most of these are collections of vignettes and Short Stories, all easy to read and evocative.
They all have attractive covers, too.

You can also try out the series with

Unlike other authors, I can't promise much (heck I can't even promise my protagonist anything) but I can promise that there'll be a string of words placed together that, when read from left to right, will hopefully form some semblance of a story.
Cheers.

I find it very gratifying to read the reviews of my book as they trickle in, even though it has not been out very long. The fact that someone would actually take the time to read Overnight Sensation and then write down their thoughts on it is amazing to me. I'm also amazed at the wide variances of opinions in those reviews.
For example, while some reviewers have praised Overnight Sensation for its mystery element, describing how they had no idea how it was going to end, what an intense imaginative ride it was, and how the plot twists surprised them, others have written that it was predictable.
And while some have written about how they couldn't put it down and how it made them want to keep reading, others have felt compelled to focus on some grammatical errors rather than the story itself.
Overnight Sensation has a lot of dialogue because it surrounds four teenage boys who are best friends that hang out together in school, in their homes, at parties, with girls... in other words, they do what many teenagers do. After turning over the first draft to my first editor, she said, "Instead of having the main character describe what is going on, you should have more dialogue between the boys, but refrain from using too much "I said" or "he said", as it becomes repetitive. If they're following the story, the reader already knows who's speaking." This made perfect sense to me, so I went back and added dialogue while pulling out many of those phrases. Still, some reviewers have stated that there's too much dialogue while others stated that they had trouble figuring out who was speaking...
Then there are reviews praising the accurateness of the dialogue saying things like how I must have teenage boys or how I must have consulted with teenagers because I nailed it, while another wrote how the dialogue seemed off and that teen boys don't talk like that. Well, the truth is out on this one - I do have teenage boys who are with their friends at our house all the time and I did consult with them on terminology and phrases, so let me assure those in doubt, that dialogue is as real as it gets!
So, if you're a writer and reviews of your book start to come in, I urge you to keep in mind these things when reading them:
You can't please everyone and you never will. However, if you keep at it, you will please some, and when that happens, when a reader clicks with your story and gets it and writes about it, it will put an extremely wide grin on your face.
If you write young adult fiction, or any genre for that matter, realize that there are millions of readers out there from age 12 to age 90 and their take on your book will be as varied as their age and experience.
And finally, when you get a review that makes you groan, go pick out some of your favorite books or authors of all time and read their reviews and look at their ratings. Know what you'll find? That your reviews and ratings are not far off from theirs. Sure, they may have a best seller with thousands of reviews, but it all comes down to the same thing. The joy of writing comes from pulling a story out of your brain and sharing it with the world and that's really all you should focus on because that's all you can control. The rest is up to interpretation.

$2.99 Manipulating the List , $2.99 Executing the List , and Legacy of the List (TBR in July 2013).
Manipulating the List (star rating is 4.46/5 Stars from a total of 85 reviews!) -
Katherine Sheppard is the exception to the rule. That is, as long as she continues to run from the law; murder innocent people; and manipulate the Collector’s List
Shouldn’t be hard, right?
Since the tender age of six, Katherine has always loved to hear Jonathan’s nightly stories about tracking, stalking, and collecting his victims. She’s even had the privilege of watching souls transition into the afterlife, led by the hand of the Collector to their paths where angels or demons escort them home. It has been an unwavering friendship that has flourished for sixteen years. That is, until an unexplainable twist in circumstances causes Katherine’s name to appear on the Collector’s List.
Oh, but do not mistake this as an end, this is just the beginning. Katherine refuses to hand over her soul quietly and Jonathan will stand beside his friend, feeling the bitter sting of helplessness as he realizes that he might possibly be the cause of her demise. So now a new relationship unfolds between them, one of checks and balances, hints, clues, and mysteries, where the two, despite their now forbidden friendship, will work together to manipulate the List.
But just as resolute, the law won’t stand idly by as Katherine assists in the deaths of others. Every form of law enforcement is preparing to conduct a global manhunt to bring her to justice. Nor will the Creator of the List tolerate a friendship that goes completely against his rules. The collections continue to increase in difficulty, pushing Katherine into an irreversible life of crime where the only possibility of escape is her own death. Yet Katherine, as impassionedly determined as a trapped animal trying to escape its captor, will stay the course in her fight to overcome Heaven, Hell, earth and the Collector.

My first novel, Darkness Forbidden, was published on Kindle on 14th December, and I would be immensely grateful for any reviews (a sample is available on Amazon and it is free to Prime members) or feedback. The paperback version is due out in February.

Again I am grateful for any help or feedback.

Don't let the title put you off. It makes sense, I promise. And it's free if you've got amazon prime.

If you like Australian Short Stories and vignettes, generally romantic and positive, please check these out.

at 4 stars.
It's a beautiful book for lovers of romantic vignettes.

It is a post-apocalyptic adventure story. I tried to re-define some of the core principles of the genre- stripping down everything extra to reveal what I hope is an engaging, entertaining but at the same time very personal story.
The book is on sale on Amazon with all the proceeds being donated to a special care children orphanage in Gyumri town of Armenia.
Thank you all for your attention and PM me should you have any questions.

I, too, am an Indie Author. I have two novels published so far. One is a cross-genre, called Unexpected Legacy, contemporary romance and general fiction. The other one, Meetings of Chance, is more of a clean contemporary romance. Both focus on people/relationships.
I'm planning to release a women's fiction late this summer, the first of a small-town trilogy. Hope you'll take a look at my website or Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ profile page! Go indies!

While there is a strong romantic element to the novel it's far from tame.

Did you know that Awesome Indies have just changed the rules for submission, and that you now need THREE reviews?

Know I didn't. That must be very new because I just checked their site a couple of weeks ago and it said nothing about this. It did say you needed additional reviews to earn the badge and/or seal, but only one review to submit to the website.

It is very new. AI closed submissions until September, and then changed the rules. I'm not sure whether or not it is on their public site yet, but as member I can assure you that this is the case. A few members have expressed concerns about the changes.

The story asks a simple question -- "What would happen if women ruled the world?" I've often heard people say things like there would be no wars, we would be better at compromise, etc. But could it really be so easy?
Kate is a widowed mother of three struggling to survive in a post-war world. She has learned to grow, hunt for and preserve the food upon which her family and her neighborhood depend. The women have a deeply rooted sisterhood, and believe they have finally established peace and gender equality, but they are terrified of small groups of men that roam the country viciously indicating that the pendulum may have swung too far.
When a man shows up on Kate's porch one night, filthy and gaunt, will she risk everything to help him? Does he deserve her help?
Women's Work is a compelling story that has been called "Thought provoking", "Relevant", and "A wild ride!"

I hope you find a great indie book! They are like little gems, and with all the great GoodReads authors, you can actually get to know some of the authors. It's like a book-lover's heaven!

My name is Andrew Yorke and I have three published stories. The first, a book of prose on the late actress Sharon Tate, was published on what would have been Sharon's 69th birthday in 2012.
The second was a short story entitled Waiting for Love at Airports, which stayed on top of the free e-book charts for four consecutive weeks.
The third, my most recent, is entitled Runaway Empire and it's a story I am very proud of. It deals with modern events in a way that focuses on the triumph of the human spirit. A portion of the net proceeds will be going to the non-profit organization Sandy Hook Promise, which began in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting in Newtown, CT.
It's great to see so many different authors on here, and I hope we can all help each other reach new audiences!
All the best,
Andrew

Hi Everyone,
My name is Alice Poon and I've just published my debut novel "Fated and Fateless" in Kindle and CreateSpace paperback formats. It's a story set in Colonial Hong Kong from the 50s to the 80s about the contrasting life journeys of two female characters against a backdrop of greed-driven values and patriarchal tendencies.
Like other indie authors, I am looking for someone who'd be interested in reading and reviewing my newly released book.
