Happy New Year! I'm starting the year off with A Touch Of Crimson by Sylvia Day.

I'm reading On Lavender Lane, the just-released addition to JoAnn Ross's Shelter Bay series. I'm hooked on the series and have loved seeing Ross return to the kind of contemporaries she used to write. But I'd have read this one regardless after reading the opening sentence: "Madeline Durand was braising short ribs in an Omaha department store when her husband's sex video went viral."

I am working on The Duke Is Mine by Eloisa James. After that I think I might start Julie Anne Long's newest book.

Irisheyes | 896 comments Just finished HIDDEN SUMMIT by Robyn Carr. I liked it, but am really looking forward to the other two books that were set up in this one.

I am going to start on EJ's THE DUKE IS MINE as soon as I get some chores done.

LOL, Janga, that is a killer opening sentence! And it makes me want ribs...

I'm smack dab in the middle of How the Marquess was Won and it's every bit as delicious as I've been led to think it would be.

Working on Hidden Summit, which is not wowing me. I read the Duke is mine. Not sure what I think of it. I wasn't expecting the ...trip to France. Almost feels like two different books.
Next up are the new Gurhke and The other Guy's Bride.

Manda, I loved HTMWW only a bit less than WIDFAD. I especially liked the acknowledgements, didn't you? ;)

Hidden Summit didn't wow me either, Dls. I didn't hate it, but I liked Redwood Bend better. I know Irish thinks Sunrise Point will be the best of the latest Virgin River trios.

I did! Just finished it and loved it. She writes character driven stories so well. And the cat parts of the story were hysterical.

Theresa Romain | 420 comments I'm still on my SEP glom, reading Nobody's Baby But Mine (after your recommendation, Manda--thanks!). I recently got an ereader, and my first download was JAL's The Runaway Duke (her debut, which I've never read). After I finish those, I'll read JAL's and Eloisa's newest.

Elyssa, I've heard great things about ANGELFALL- I've added to my list :))

message 12: by Beebs (new)

Beebs (yvond) | 45 comments I've just finished Candace Camp's A Winter Scandal, really liked it. I'm currently reading Cara Elliott's Too Wicked to Wed, loving it so far.

Next up is either My Ruthless Prince, The Black Hawk or Bride by Mistake depending on which one arrives first.

message 13: by Susan (new)

Susan (susaninaz) | 1075 comments Sorry not to have posted in the last 2 months. I had a crisis with the elderly parents and then a 10-month-old Grandson who just figured out how to walk...

I recently finished Courtney Milan's Unraveled. OMG, it was good!

I'm now reading Laura Lee Guhrke's Trouble at the Wedding. Not very far into it yet (we drove 10 hours today to get home). I like it so far.

Sorry to hear about your parents, Susan. But Grandson sounds like fun:)

After Janga's Monday Puzzler, I broke down and bought Smooth Talking Stranger last night and I'm already halfway finished. Yes, I was a dope to wait so long to read it. And strangely the first person--which is what made me put it off for so long--doesn't bother me a bit. Thanks for the nudge, Janga!

Congrats manda!
I'm reading The Other Guys Bride, which I love. I stopped reading A lady's Awakening although I think I will go back. It's beautifully written and fascinating. I just can't enjoy reading it, I think because so far I dont like either hero or heroine. ( Spoiler: I also have a hard time believing that a woman who knows sexual pleasure and famtasises about men would be this uncomfortable and displeased with the man she asked to inpregnate her.)

Hey all--I've created a thread for you top 10 books of 2011. I can't wait to see what books we all agree on and what great books I might have missed.

Thanks, Dls--that's a great thread. I'd tear my hair out over making a list (ok, not literally), but I love seeing the top tens from others. You all have listed quite a few books in common!

Okay, I was an idiot for not reading Lisa Kleypas' contems sooner. SMOOTH TALKING STRANGER was fabulous, though I cried like a baby for the last quarter of the book.

There are so few good books in the first person but that one really works . I'm glad you liked it!
