So excited!! Here are my books for the challenge. Can't wait to get started. :)
1. Red
In honor of Valentine's Day, read a book that has the word "Red" in the title OR red on the cover.
(Doing a re-read with Abby) :)
Done - 2/18/12
2. Oldie but a Goodie
Read the book that's been sitting on your goodreads "To Read" list the longest.
3. The Best Year Ever
Read a book that was published the year you were born.
4. Better Than Fiction
Read a non-fiction/biographical book on any prominent figure of your choice.
5. Historical Fiction
Read any book that recreates/fictionalizes the life of any figure in History. (1 bonus point if your choice for books 4 and 5 are based on the same person.)
6. .:.Book Bodega.:.
Read any book that the Bodega has read that you have not read yet.
Done - 3/8/12
3/20/12 Ok, people (or should I say, Sammee & Abby), I officially withdraw from the challenge.
Many reasons why, here goes.
1. MY BOOKS SUCK!
OMG - why is Metroland such torture to read?!? I've already shared how I end up throwing my Nook on my desk because the book is so bad. My Elizabeth book is good but it's not a page turner. It's like an easier to read history book. I finally got Cleopatra from the library but they only gave me two weeks to read it. That's usually enough time but not with...
2. SCHOOL
In the time span of 1 month, I have 2 Calculus tests and a cumulative final exam. I need to put on my nerd panties and focus on math, math, math. Right now I have a 76 in the class and this grade can not drop. I will cry (FOR REAL!) if I have to take this class again.
3. OTHER BOOKS
Found Pimps, Hos, Playa Hatas, and All the Rest of My Hollywood Friends: My Life at the library and had to read it. When I returned that one, I saw Beautiful Creatures and...yeah...I'm officially invested/hooked/obsessed. LOL!!
So lesson learned for me (us?). With our (my?) crazy lives...maybe a reading challenge of 6 books is too much??
Although, Sammee seems to be kicking ass. You picked good books, miss.
So I offically tender my resignation.
The creator is the loser.
Love it! LOL!!!

Super excited!
Btw, loved the book!
Li, maybe I'll read Cleopatra.

Love this challenge!
Update your original entry (the one where you posted the books you'll be reading) with the date you finished Twilight.
In the event of a tie, the dates will determine the winner.
Abby wrote: "Ok so far I have read Twilight (Red) and starting Sleepless Night (Best Year Ever)... I also read Breaking Dawn again but just for the hell of it... LOL

Just checking! How's it going for everyone? They sure dont call it a challenge for nothing, right?
I'm on my 3rd book now, "Ready Player One" & I must say man does it suck but the concept sounded interesting to bad it actually isn't. I loved loved LOVED "The Book Thief" & "When She Woke" was really interesting. Here is to hoping that my other 3 books will wow me.

I'm on my third & fourth book. My book on Elizabeth I was really good and now I'm kind of stuck. Reading Metroland for my "Best Year Ever" category. I'm about 21 pages in and the main character's name still hasn't been revealed. :\ Hoping it picks up soon.
LI!!!
Say it is so? You were a fierce competitor & you will greatly be missed.
This is definitely a challenge & one that requires loads of research before picking your books. I had a rough start with my original 'Better Than Fiction' selection and with some good advise (Li) I switched it. So far the lamest book I've read was Ready Player one so I guess that's not bad 1 bad one 1 good one 'When She Woke' and 2 phenomenal ones 'The Book Thief' & 'Queenmaker'. Here is to hoping the last 2 books on my challenge list are just as good.
I would love to do a reading challenge again maybe we can restructure it somehow but dont forget it is a challenge so its' gotta still be tough too.
SIDE NOTE for Li: I've been trying to get you to read the Beautiful Creatures series for awhile now. Have we not learned our lesson yet! LISTEN TO SAMMEE!!! ok that is all, lol

Girl, I listen to you!! I have you to thank for Harry Potter. I just never saw Beautiful Creatures at the library. It was always checked out. I was looking for books for Dominic this weekend when I saw the book. Without thinking twice, I grabbed it. :) I'm enjoying it but have no idea what's going on. Love the boy that's been cast for Ethan. He was on Skins (UK) and I can't wait to see him play sensitive. His character on Skins was a nutcase!! Lol (Just now sitting down to watch New Girl. I did 45 minutes of Calculus. Enough for one night.)
Okay, I've read 5 out of the 6 books for the challenge. I just couldn't fight my way through the Coco Chanel book. Anyway, is there anyone else out there still hanging strong in this challenge?
