That's just one reader's praise for my latest non-fiction title "Slow Travels in Unsing Spain." You can preview it here: and at most online book providers internationally.
Other Amazon reader/reviwers said:
" A unique and quirky account of his journey, with a clear and consistent voice. I read it in one sitting. Hetherington's general knowledge of Spain's twentieth history and current political situation is excellent. His love of the country, in spite of its inherited prejudices and social inadequacies is evident. A very interesting read." -- 'avidreader'
"[It] made me want to hop on a train and go travelling around the lesser known areas of Spain. Thoroughly enjoyed the writing style. Especially liked the bits and pieces of information on Spanish culture & history sprinkled throughout the book!" -- Sona, Spain
"Gets to the Heart of the Real Spain"
"He brought it all back to life for me in a way that could only be done by someone who knows and understands the place really well. I adored the way he describes the minutiae of Spanish life, the food, the music, and the way things often don't quite work as they should over there...
It never gets boring. I just wish it had been even longer. It was really interesting to read about some of the lesser-known towns which I do not know, but which I'd now love to visit." --Lesley Postle

Carla Fountain documents a journey of interior discovery as she and her husband Dermot explore new countries and cultures along their bicycle trek.
This travel memoir details the couple’s journey around the world by bicycle for a year in the early 90s. They packed everything they would need on their bicycles and discovered they needed very few material possessions to be happy and to live well. They ventured off the beaten path and welcomed detours that led to enchanting encounters with exceptional people who shared their human kindness with them. As they embark on a challenging bicycling adventure that not only tests their survival skills but ultimately their relationship, they also learn timeless lessons in life such as trusting one’s instincts and staying open to synchronicity.
Told with vivid observations about the world and the people in it, “Bicycle Odyssey shares the story of a rich and enlightening pilgrimage. By sharing their story, the couple hopes to inspire and give confidence to others in pursuing dreams.
“I would like readers to open up to the possibilities of realizing their dreams, no matter how impossible they might seem. I would like them to take away the idea of the benefits gained when we trust in serendipity, are open to the unexpected and welcome detours to magical, hidden places, the author says.
It is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or through the publisher, Balboa Press. In e-book or print.Bicycle Odyssey: An Around-The-World Journey of Inner and Outer Discovery

Hello.
I'm the author of Finding Ching Ha. This novel is inspired by my own life and is the story of a young Chinese girl adopted by a Russian Jewish expatriate couple living in 1970s Hong Kong.
This might be of interest to anyone who wants to travel to multi-cultural, British-ruled Hong Kong of the 1970s and sample some food and places in the 'old world'.
I'm looking forward to my travel adventures with your books.

Your book sounds intriguing I lived in Singapore for a time and enjoy reading and learning about Chinese culture. I just finished reading Song Everlasting by Ha Jin, which I highly recommend.
I am also a travel writer and have published three travel memoirs. If you are interested in reading any of them, maybe we could do a book swap.

Hope to hear from you,
Jill Dobbe, Author

I'm looking forward to reading your book!
I'm also a Chinese author from Hong Kong, now living in USA.

Read the Look Inside on Amazon and it looks interesting. You have what I think is an undeserved 1 star review. I intend to buy the book and if it matches up to it's first chapter, give it a 5 star review.

My wife, Susan Alcorn, and I are long distance hikers, both on the long trails in the United States, and on the pilgrimage trails of Europe. She writes books related to our travels and I do the book layout, so I qualify as an author by marriage.
Her most recent book is , stories by 32 hiking women, all over the age of 45 and still going strong. These accomplished women can be found on the long trails of Europe and the US.
Her relevant earlier books by date of publication:
- 2017 - A story of our hikes on the Northern coast of Spain while dealing with a failing parent at home.
- 2012 - A story of our hiking and camping on the circuit around the peaks.
- 2006, updated 2014 - A story of our journey on the Camino de Santiago in 2001 at the time of 9/11.
- 2003 - Interviews with 36 hiking women, all over 45.
I believe in supporting other authors, and I buy, read and review books in my fairly narrow genre. If I read and don't like a book, I will not post a review. I know the effort that goes into a book, and the devastation a bad Amazon review causes on sales. ŷ reviews are a little different.

Cheers!

Hey, thanks for the invite! Anyone interested in a very vivid and real account of life in the Alaskan skies as a backcountry bush pilot will no doubt find my novel, "The Last Bush Pilots," a fun read!
Inspired by my very real experience as a young bush pilot in Alaska (I am now a Boeing 777 Captain for a major US airline), you'll find life in Alaska—on the sky and on the ground—a very rich, unique, and rewarding experience!

Sorry but I only just saw your comment, Ralph. Many thanks for what you said. I hope you find it the 5 star book you predict. (The 1 star rating was a bit unfair, I agree. The "reader" hadn't really read much of the book and seemed miffed by me mentioning family members!)

Hi Ralph, Susan's book "Patagonia Chronicle - On Foot in Torres del Paine" seems really interesting as a title but the link is broken. I'd like to signal it as a book to read. (BTW, I generally share your review policy.)

Hi! My name is Judy Bloomberg, and I am the author of a recently published non-fiction travel photography book called "Always a Traveler, Never a Tourist: In Search of People and Places on the Road Less Traveled". I have been an intrepid traveler for over 50 years, visiting 115 countries in every corner of the world. This book is a collection of 294 of the best (mostly full-page) photos from those trips, focusing on the most exotic destinations on all seven continents (and the people who inhabit them), along with insights and anecdotes about traveling off the beaten path. From colorful festivals like the Goroka Show in Papua New Guinea and Carnival in Rio to daily life in places like Lake Titicaca and rural Ethiopia, these photographs capture the amazing diversity of peoples who inhabit our world.

I am Sabrina De Angelis and recently published my first book on amazon, Living in Chaos. It is a captivating collection of dystopian, survival short stories. Some of my stories takes place in fictitious places and others based in the US and Mexico. One of my stories is in Spanglish.
I touch upon the following themes:
- stuttering
- overcoming medical conditions and addiction
- Climate Fiction (natural disasters and mangrove conservation)
Synopsis:
What would you do if everything you’ve ever wanted suddenly went up in FLAMES?
A glimpse of Tragedy, Drama, and Sorrow looms in the dark as each character embarks on a journey in search for a beacon of hope.
Will they find it…or be left in despair for an eternity?
I'm an indie author from South Texas, USA who enjoys crafting fictional tales that are entertaining, because they must first be that before they can be anything else, but which also explore various aspects of human nature. I think that in fiction there is much truth to be found, because people feel free to say things when they are protected by the veil of imagination that they wouldn't otherwise say. Thus, through fiction, can a person sometimes know the heart and true mind of others. I'm on a quest, a quest to discover fictional works from around the world, so that I might see others through their creativity, and believe of them what I will, rather than what the television tells me to believe. Thank you to those who have provided this space, I do appreciate it, and if anybody would like to see some of my work, they may use the following link, Thanks again, David.

Would love to have some feedback from anyone.
Best wishes

Historical fiction is my favorite genre, and I have also authored a novel, Father, Son, Stone, which I believe would be of interest to members of this group. The plot blends history and mystery to reveal the secret of the most controversial religious site in Jerusalem known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary. In my story, the Western Wall collapses from the Muslim Authority’s excavation under the Temple Mount to enlarge al-Aqsa Mosque, and Justice Meir Bar-Aben of the Supreme Court of Israel presides over a secret hearing, initiated by the Israeli Prime Minister, to take back control of the Temple Mount from the Muslim Authority. What is revealed during the hearing changes Jerusalem, and the people who live there, forever.
You can read the first several chapters of Father, Son, Stone on the "look inside " function on its Amazon page.
If you read Father, Son, Stone, please let me know!
My three books are available for free to Kindle Unlimited members.

Hello Travelers! I have published two books this year, Bridgespotting in March, and Bridgespotting Part 2 just within the last month. The books examine the reasons that people visit bridges as tourists, for recreation, or in the pursuit of a hobby, citing more than 500 examples. By providing detailed descriptions of more than 130 of the most prominent tourist bridges and multi-bridge tours in the United States, Canada, and Europe, the books serve as a travel guide for those interested in exploring the history and cultural development of their next vacation destination, or of the local bridge that they drive over every day.
I currently have a Giveaway for Part 2 active until January 8, 2023. I love chatting with other travelers about places they have been, and interested bridges they have investigated, so please leave a post, or contact me through my website at .

I never thought about the bridges I have seen. My first thought was Mostar, which had a long history. It was in Yugolslavia when I saw it and now called Bosnia.

The Water at the End of the World
A realistic reimagining of an Andean folktale, The Water at the End of the World follows a young woman’s journey through the Andes on her quest in search of the magical water that will cure the young heir to the throne of the Inca Empire.
Available on kindle unlimited, paperback and hardcover.

"Around the World on a Dime and a Prayer" is the story of my 6-year around the world journey back in the 70s, before the internet connected us 24/7. You could get lost, and I did. I got sick as well. It was adventure those who like travel tales will enjoy.
My second book is more recent. "Osaka! Osaka!: A different kind of history" is the story of me, now an older father, trying to bond with my teenage son through our city's history. Not an academic history, it is how I learned the history. If you are interested in history, you will enjoy this tale. You will laugh some, as well.

This is suspenseful YA Christian fiction, involving a modern-day treasure hunt in Scotland, with a bit of supernatural thrown in. Blending historical fact and Scottish legend within an action-packed adventure, Treasures of the Lochs is an exciting, powerful story of faith, friendship, and redemption. The target audience is teenage and above (some parts would be too intense for younger readers).
This book is a 2024 NIEA Finalist in Religion Fiction. The novel crosses a few different genres, including Christian Fantasy, Magical Realism, and Suspense. It also hit Amazon#1 New Release for Christian Fantasy. I hope you’ll check it out.

This February, I became a published author with the release of my debut poetry collection, Fragments of Me

It took a little over a year to revisit and refine some of my older poems from my teenage years, all the way up to the last one I wrote for the book in 2020. I’m also planning a sequel to which will continue my journey from 2020 onwards, whenever I’m ready to work on it and publish it.
Fragments of Me is deeply personal, and I hope it resonates with anyone who has walked a similar path or faced similar experiences.
The book is available on Amazon, and if you have Kindle Unlimited, you can read it for free.
I would be so grateful for anyone who takes the time to read it, and thank you all in advance for all of your support!
