Sashana 'The boy who lived' is no longer; this month we get to see Daniel Radcliffe in a whole new light when his new movie, The Woman in Black , premiers. Radcliffe plays a "lawyer [who] travels to a remote village where he discovers the vengeful ghost of a scorned woman is terrorizing the locals."

We also get to see Drew Barrymore have a whale of a time save some whales in Big Miracle (the book and movie is based on a true story). Personally, the most interesting of Feburary's book to movie adapatations seems to be The Secret World of Arrietty -- based on the popular childrens novel, The Borrowers . It is about miniature sized people who steal borrow items to build their homes. Sounds interesting, no?

We'd like to know...
1. If you've read a book listed, and if you'll see it.

2. If you've read the book and seen the movie:
a. Did you like the book?
b. Did you like the movie?
c. Did the movie do the book justice

*You don't have to answer these questions, but it's a nice way to get the conversation going.

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments The Woman in Black movie looks amazing and I can't wait to see it. I didn't realize it was based on a book (although just about everything is, so I should have known.) I probably won't see the movie until I can get it through netflix.

I love Daniel Radcliffe and I want to see what he can do beyond HP but I probably won't see or read the book. I can't stomach horror.

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments I love horror, but I don't know if I can see "Harry Potter" play anything else. Hehehe.

Shannon (wckdktty) | 20 comments They all interest me.

I have Big Miracle just havent read it yet. Will probably work it into a challenge soon. Then see the movie.

The Woman in Black we will probably only see the movie. Although I rarely read horror books the movies are something my hubby and I do together.

The Borrowers was my favorite book as a child. I havent heard of the updated book so I may need to get it from the library and read it to my son.

Cheryl (cawils_99) I recently read The Woman in Black. The book is not a horror like you would think, it's subtle and actually more creepy than horror. I am really looking forward to this movie because I enjoy scary movies and Daniel Radcliffe.

Thanks for the addition, Shay. I didn't know it was a movie. I saw it on Saturday, didn't think much of it.

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments I surprisingly haven't read any of these but I would love to read The Women in The Black Dress.

I don't know if I would really care to read the Big Miracle book, but my attitude may change later.

message 10: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I have The Borrowers checked out but I haven't gotten to it yet.

Aleksandra (spalkiry) Wow, I didn't even know those were made after books. Except for The Borrowers, which was totally accidental, because I love all of studio Ghibli's movies and I was jut ordering the DVD. Haven't seen it yet, though....
