Diane U (djuseless) It's time to start nominations for April's Christian Fiction group read. I used the list of categories from the Theme thread and using Random.org, it selected:

Southern

Rules:
1. Nominations are open until the 14th of the month. Rachel will let us know which book has "won" on the 15th.
2. Books must be Christian fiction, or "clean" fiction to be eligible for this read.
3. Books are chosen using Random.org to make it completely fair.
3. One nomination per person.

Nominations so far:

1. Yellow Crocus by Laila Ibrahim - Lorie
2. Sugar And Grits by DiAnn Mills - Barbara Ann
3. This Fine Life by Eva Marie Everson - Rachel
4. Sixty Acres and a Bride by Regina Jennings - Camille
5. Sixty Acres and a Bride by Regina Jennings - Kate
6. Never Say Never by Lisa Wingate - Rebecca
7. Into the Free by Julie Cantrell - Diane
8.

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Wow, I didn't even realise we had a Southern option! I'm going to have to think hard about this one :)

I hope this is considered Southern and I do not know if it is considered Christian so if it is not please let me know and I will change my nomination.

How about Sugar And Grits by DiAnn Mills?

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Is any book set in the South okay, or is there something that makes a book specifically Southern? Just wondering as I have quite a few books set in the deep South, Texas, etc, but I'm not sure if they're specifically considered "Southern" literature.

message 6: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Nevermind, I just found one on my Kindle that was described as "Southern" by a reviewer, so I'll nominate that :) This Fine Life by Eva Marie Everson.

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Is Texas southern? If you all agree this book fits, then I would nominate Sixty Acres and a Bride by Regina Jennings, especially as it's free on Amazon today (March 5)

Diane U (djuseless) Sure, Texas is southern to me! But then again I live in MA so CT is southern to me! LOL!

I need to go through my books to pick a nomination now!

Ooh, I really want read this one too!

Kate (liahonagirl) I just got this one on Kindle today . . . count me in as seconding the nomination for Sixty Acres and a Bride by Regina Jennings. (I can do that, right?)

message 11: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca I nominate Never Say Never Lisa Wingate

Diane U (djuseless) I'd like to nominate:

Into the Free by Julie Cantrell

message 13: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Last day to nominate! So many good suggestions :)

message 14: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Okay, I just randomised the winner and I feel really bad about this because the number that came up is #3, which is my vote, and I'm sure my vote won a couple of months ago? So if you guys want to overthrow your moderators and get me to randomise again, I will do ;)

If not, next month we'll be reading This Fine Life by Eva Marie Everson!

message 15: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Oh Rachel, I simply can't believe that you would cheat to get your own book picked! :P Plus this book sounds great, so I'm all for reading it!

message 16: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Haha, glad you have such faith in me! It does look good, doesn't it? I've not read a lot of Southern fiction before, so it shall be interesting :)

message 17: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments That's what's awesome about group reads! We're reading so many Amish and Christian fiction books I normally might not have picked up, but they turn out to be interesting!

I did not think I would be reading this one, but then I found out that I already own this and got it when it was a kindle freebie. I like monthly reads that are free!
