Wonderful Craig so Texas is getting its books. Thank you for letting us know; we want everyone to let us know that their book has arrived.
Well we heard from the midwest - so things are moving West; hopefully that is good news for you Duane.
Folks, Kansas has had deliveries.
Folks, Kansas has had deliveries.

I received my book yesterday, Friday, May 11! I am looking forward to reading it!
Thanks Bentley and Random House!

Thanks Dave, I also know that Minnesota and Nebraska have received their books too. Glad that things seem to be moving westward.

Mike, is SMH=Society for Military History? I was a member myself with its interesting journal. I'm thinking of starting back up again.

I agree; I never got a chance to go to the conferences, but I really enjoyed the journal. I joined as a grad student when I was dabbling in naval/military history.

Hello, Tim, I want to welcome you here to the discussion and I'm excited and honored that you are taking time out to answer our questions.
We look forward to your posts.

Welcome Tim and we are thrilled to have you with us. It is our pleasure and good fortune to be part of this discussion with you. It is our distinct honor.
We have set up a Q&A thread for you and I just opened it up today versus June 4th because you have been on already. You are welcome to join in on the discussions on any of the threads and we also hope that you will be able to answer the questions as they come in from our readers.
We are very flexible and are thrilled to have you join us as you are able. And we understand perfectly the limitations with connectivity while traveling.
Glad to have you with us.
All best,
Bentley and the History Book Club

We are thrilled to have you and I am delighted that California and the West Coast are now receiving the books.

Folks, Tim Weiner is already on and has posted on this thread already and on the Q&A thread. I posted some early questions to get the thread started before the opening discussion date of June 4th.
Please feel free to go over to the Q&A thread and ask questions that you might have on the first week's reading assignment or other burning questions that you have about the book, the FBI or any of its personalities. Tim has already answered some questions; his responses are worth reading right away so I am including the link here:

Well Duane I know that you have been waiting for this book to arrive and glad that you have it in hand.
Oh Vheissu - alas. California is still reporting spotty deliveries. And nothing yet from Oregon or the state of Washington. Keep letting us know; we want to make sure that everyone who was supposed to receive the book does receive it. That is why I am keeping on top of the list and contacting folks.

Sorry Natcha and Alisa but do not despair (smile); things are looking up; more folks in Texas have received their book
And Vheissu terrific.
And Vheissu terrific.
Folks here is the table of contents and syllabus. For those of you receiving your book - only read in advance of the June 4th kickoff - up through the end of Chapter Four - we want to discuss the book together so try to not get too far ahead. We have plenty of time to read and discuss the book.

All 33 of you have your books in hand and those of you who have purchased the book; try to complete Chapters One through Four for the Week One assignment. The full Table of Contents and Syllabus is a thread in this folder if you would like to examine the schedule further.
