As a short summary: I do book reviews, movie reviews, author interviews, writing tips and advice, recipes, every once in a while a "Weird History Fact" rant, and of course I talk about my own stories and if something especially interesting - or odd or inconvenient - happens in my life, I blog about that. And naturally, I talk about Sherlock Holmes. :)

Here's my blog:



It's about Mongol things -- history and culture. Don't read the maunderings of an artistic temperament, such as start with 'Why did God give writers blogs? He didn't -- we invented them. It's obviously a bad idea.'

But most of the blog is about Mongols. With art and artefacts, which I like to collect. On the site at least. And links to Mongolian museums, art and craft shops, online poetry.

On the page 'The Secret History of the Mongols' is the note I have in my novels about the 13thC source I use.

I am so jealous of you all and your skills, l'm afraid l do not have enough writing talent for even a blog, nevermind a actual book.
Am really enjoying some of yours though.

I know I really wish I had more time to read people's blogs, but I don't otherwise I would be on the computer all day. I usually try to go through the weeks' posts of the ones I follow on the weekends which is silly because I actually have less time on the weekends than during the week :P

Mine's at and I just added a new post about five minutes ago. So, great timing Hazel, and thanks for starting this thread.

It started out as a way to promote my books, but now it's mostly just me talking to myself (although I'd love to hear from any of you!)

Great post! Now, for the questions:

1. Do I have to have my seven writers lined up before I make my post?

2. Can I basically copy what you and Amanda have already written in terms of explaining the challenge?

3. Is it ok to mentin my other, already published books, or link to them?

1. I think that's up to you, but you will probably get the most oomph out of the post if all the pieces are in place before you make it. I waited a couple of weeks to collect the names (and links) before I posted.

3. I don't see why not. Mine are plastered along the side of the blog layout, plus I mention them about every other Friday, so I didn't bother, but I'm sure it's not verboten.

A very useful post, Steven, and funny to read (I did like your blog as well). My current wip is set in Hobart Town in 1842-3, and the residents must cope with a scarlet fever epidemic. So the shoe fits! Hi from Beth
