Chloe | 2 comments It's a very recent book I think published around 2006, I read it in 2006 I think and I found it to read on the new fiction shelves at the library. The cover art of the hardcover edition was an image collage of Big Ben, made up of photos of pieces of the structure, reconstructed, and I think it might have been designed by Chip Kidd.

The book itself was about a dystopian UK where the populace had been given some sort of personality test to decide whether they were Sanguine, Melancholy, phlegmatic or choleric and they'd split the country and all the citizens up into sectors based on this.

The protagonist was a party member bureaucrat in the Sanguine government who went on an ambassadorial event into, I think it was the Melancholy area, went to un underground club, and for some reason decided to buck the system.

He ends up running around in all the sectors as a fugitive and at one point has to hide out with the albino untouchable caste who can roam freely between sectors becasue they aren't really viewed as people at all.

As you can see I can remember like everything about the book, except the author or title, I'm starting to think I dreamt its existence.
